Goodmorning CC'ers!
I've noticed that there seem to be posters who are regulars in select forums. For example, some exclusively post in the Foods forums, while others tend to post more in the fitness etc. I love food, always have (from growing food to trying out new recipes, and of course the whole eating thing!). I'm curious though, for all of you other foodies out there, we post a lot about eating but sometimes not so much about the activities we incorperate into our days.
I try and work out 6 days a week. Some weeks it's less, but most of the time it's about 6. I usually do some form of cardio for about an hour. On days that I don't do cardio, I weight train. Other than that I walk or bike everywhere.
Anyone else care to share? I'd love to know more about the other foodies out there! On a side note, it's really funny how many women at my gym watch the food network while working out!
Not wishing to be rude or anything but... in a 'Food' forum why would people post about fitness? Unless there's something with a crossover appeal like ... what kinds of foods are best to eat before a workout?... this board is really for people who want to talk about ...well... food. (The clue's in the title) Healthy foods, new foods, lower-calorie alternatives... etc.
There's a whole 'Fitness' board for people that want to bore each other to death with their amazing exercise programmes. That's why it's called 'Fitness'.
The point of the different forums isn't to segregate the people, but to keep separate the posts.
If you have a question on weight loss, it goes in the WL forum. If you want to talk about food, it goes in the Food forum. If you want to discuss workouts, go to Fitness.
There are plenty of us who post in multiple forums (gi-jane might be the queen of that - she's even started joining us in Fitness
). If there are "foodies" who just stick to the Foods forum, it's because that's what they'd rather discuss, not necessarily because they don't work out.
ETA- I don't normally post in the Foods forum because I'm not a "foodie" and I don't really like the surveys that fill this forum... But I still like food, and obviously I still eat!
Hi there,
sorry for the confusion. I was just curious about how those who seem (based on how frequently they contribute to the food forum) balance out their love for food with another important part of the healthy lifestyle formula (excercise :) ).
I'm trying really hard to balance maintaining an active lifestyle, while still enjoying foods of all kinds. I read posts in most of the forums, but I love this one and was just curious.
I can cross reference though. No worries.
Thanks again~
I go to the gym at the same time every week day. If I'm on the treadmill, I always watch the end of the Rachel Ray show (on MUTE) to see what she's cooking. lol.
I frequent the Foods & Fitness Forums but I post about my own stuff in my journal.
go fishing for the foodies in the forums. Then check out their profiles and friend the ones you are drawn to! Most of us post quite detailed descriptions of food or links to recipes in our journals. But we'll also talk exercise and assorted other etc!
I ride my bike and avoid taking elevators.

Ah, I love my food!!! ha ha - I am a regular on the food forums for sure... although I do something get my booty over to the other ones... As for my work out routine... Every day (in the AM... for instance, tomorrow is my early day: 4:30am here I come) I make it over to the gym and work out for 2 hours (cardio cardio cardio) and then when I am making meals (while waiting for things to cook) I pump out some reps on my free weights.
I go to the gym about 4x per week, plus I don't have a car so I walk anywhere I need to go. I tend to do mostly cardio in the gym because I enjoy it more, but I know I should be doing weights.
I hit the gym 5-6x per week. I do HIIT MWF, and strength training 2-3x per week. HIIT is an awesome workout if you don't have much time. Plus, it's much more effective than steady state cardio.
I walk a tight rope of balance. I am a student at college. I have two one hour classes M & W, and classes from 12 to 9:30 on Tues. with two one hour breaks (one of which is my dinner break). I do half an hour of cardio and maybe 10 min of half assed strength training M & W because my last class of the day is in the gym (archery). I work breakfast shift (6-10am) on Th and F so I am a busy bee then...I also work 9-2:30 on Sundays.
As far as food goes, I have frozen salmon, tilapia, chicken breasts in my freezer. I also have a lot of frozen green vegetables. I keep a variety of foods in my apt. and cook dinners for two then save the rest for later in the week. I switch up which meat with which starch with which veggie. Lunches are always a sandwich with yogurt, baby carrots and an apple. Sometimes I have a second fruit. My sandwiches change from PBJB, lunch meat, grilled cheese, tuna salad, egg, tuna melt.
Basically I have a lot of variety and I balance that with being busy as all get out. :P
Oh and I walk pretty much everywhere even though I have a car. I use that if I'm going to be needing to carry a lot, am going to be late, or if the weather is beastly.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
