Answer
As a part of the Harvard School of Public Health’s Nurses Study, nearly 18,000 women were tracked over 8 years to find a connection between food choices and fertility rates. Women, who had less ovulation-related infertility, were more likely to have had these dietary practices:
- Used monounsaturated fat, like olive and canola oil, and very little trans fat from processed food
- Got more protein from plants, like beans and nuts, and less from animals
- Got more iron from plants or from supplements and less from animals
- Chose more whole grain carbohydrates and less sugars
- Took a multivitamin with folic acid and other B-vitamins
- Ate more full-fat dairy products like ice cream and whole milk (surprise!)
