Foods that take a long time to eat?

Quote  |  Reply

When I'm studying I always eat food sooo fast.

I love to eat grapefruit for a study snack because, in addition to being yummy, it takes me a really long time to eat.

What are some other foods that take a long time to eat? (I don't care if they're messy or not snack food)

popcorn
Anything cut into fifty you-must-chew-me-at-least-twenty-times pieces.  Or, really hot soup.
Carrots, celery, salad.

Miss Piggy said: "After all the trouble you go to, you get about as much actual 'food' out of eating an artichoke as you would from licking thirty or forty postage stamps."

A nice big apple or a cup of cereal eaten one piece at a time.

I like those gourmet lollipops sometimes because they take forever to eat and are only like 100 calories.

Broccoli.. so damn chewy and filling .
Raw foods tend to take longer to eat because they require a lot more chewing.   Vegetable crudites with a little hummus dip is a personal favourite.
Cold boiled shrimp, peel as you go -
You could always eat using your less dominant hand, or with chop sticks (assuming you're not very good at using chopsticks).

I'm decent at eating with chopsticks, but I've still noticed that it takes me a minute or two longer to finish when I eat with them.

Sandwiches and burritos go the fastest, especially sloppy ones.  You eat them quickly because they are always threatening to fall apart.  I've seen my boyfriend wolf down a Chipotle burrito in 5 minutes flat because "it was going to fall apart."

Salads always slow me down, at least a little bit, especially if you get the dressing on the side and have to keep dipping your fork.

Pomegranates take a long time to eat!  And they're sooo good.  :-)
nuts or edamame still in the shell

just cut any fruit or veggys into little little pieces and just take your time eating it, you will enjoy it more.

or almonds take me a long time to eat.

and make it a goal to drink a full bottle of water while you are snacking on something, it will make you full and take away snacking.

i eat carrots at the end of all my meals they help to fill me up while the rest of the food catches up with me,  i never feel real full while eating it always takes me along time and since i cant choose when i eat, because i am a teacher i have to eat a set amount then i snack on lots of carrots to help kill the time after i finish and we are ready to go,  stops me from eating sweets...or too many sweets.
edamame in the shell take FOREVER to eat (and their fun to suck and chew on..)
Anything with a lot of hot sauce on it!  You have to keep drinking your water too, which will fill you fast.

anything in bits....eaten one by one.

I used to do the chopstick thing, to lengthen munching time.

I am now A CHOPSTICK NINJA!

NOTHING takes me long to eat!!!!! ha ha!
sunflower seeds in the shells (but watch out for all that salt)
