What foods have you lost or gained the taste for since making changes to your diet?

I'm just interested. I find it almost funny how drastically people's tastes can change!

I've lost the taste for anything too greasy and hate having to eat white bread or pasta. One of my favourite things to eat used to be a "chip butty" with loads of marg. Just the thought of consuming something so stodgy, oily and ... colourless? disgusts me now. I don't even like potatoes much any more. What have I become?

Also, I used to absolutely hate broccoli, but now it's something I actually look forward to eating. I'll even eat it raw.

Anyone else?

breakfast.

I hated breakfast, now when im falling asleep at night .. i cant wait for my banana and cereal in the morning =)

Korali

I have lost the taste for salt and oil (cooked into food). Now, I'm very sensitive to the amount of salt and/or oil that is put into food. I think the oil actually makes my throat get all loogie. Ick.

Before I started eating healthy, I would have a baked potato (loaded) once in awhile, but now I have a plain baked potato at least 2 or 3 times a week.

My new favourite food is roast butternut squash! It is just so delicious.

Also, eating regular breakfast, it's sad I only learned that at 32.

Pizza.  We got a Domino's pizza last night and it really wasn't that nice.  It wasn't horrible but I used to really like it and last night it was entirely unexciting. /=  Not worth the calories in the slightest.

Same with chip shop chips really.  I used to love them, but now the thought of all the grease and stuff is just horrible.  I could enjoy about 2 chips then get bored with them and not want any more.

Honeydew melon and mushrooms though, I liked as a kid, then hated for years, now like again =]  Same goes for carrots too.  And bananas, I LOVE bananas right now.  I like peas now too, and sweet potato's growing on me.  I like yoghurt again now too after not eating it for years.

I hate lots of (or any really) oil and salt in my food now too.  I can't stand full fats cheese either, and much prefer flora to butter.

There's probably a bunch of other stuff I haven't thought of too.  I'm just glad it's the bad stuff that I don't like anymore, and lots of good stuff that I'm starting to like =]

Foods that I have forgotten the taste of:

- Triscuts (& all crackers)

- Cheese

- Pasta (& Mac & Cheese)

- Pizza

- Ice Cream (all flavors - although I have amazing flavored coffees)

- Bread

- French Fries

- Cinnamon Buns

- Donuts

- All candy (esp. my old fav's like Reeses peanut butter cups)

- Girl Scout Cookies

- Croissants

- Milk Shakes

- Chicken Nuggets

- Cereal of all kinds

- Milk & Yogurt & Butter

- Potatoes & Beans

- Nuts

- Anything Fried

... I have not eaten anything of that sort for the past 6 years. All I eat is lean meats (fish, chicken, turkey, lean grass-fed beef, bison, ostrich, elk & venison) along with non-starchy veggies (spinach, peppers, asparagus, etc) & healthy fats like olive & flax seed oil.

I gained the taste for SOY MILK, cashews, asparagus, dried fruit, sushi.

I lost the taste for milk chocolate, pizza, birthday cake.
I used to LOVE fast food. I swear, I grabbed Wendy's or A&W at least three times a week. Now it grosses me out.
One thing everyone thinks is odd.. chocolate now makes me gag. I think that it's one of the worst tasting "foods" imaginable. Iccckk.
I've also developed an intolerance to fatty/salty/sugary foods.

I LOVE oatmeal now though. Same with raw veggies and apples!

My list is very similar to the replies so far.

I can't stand the thought of chips or fries. I used to eat them for the taste, forgetting how terrible they made my body feel afterwards, with the gut rot and bloating. But now all I have to do is look at them and it seems like I'm physically experiencing the discomfort. And I'm sure I'd be disgusted with the sodium/excess flavour in chips. I had a tuna sub at Subway recently and ended up scraping out all the tuna so that I could enjoy the veggies without the overwhelming taste of salt. A tuna sub!! I was going for a healthy option!!

I don't want candy bars, and anything less than 75% chocolate seems like a total waste of time.

Pizza from Pizza Pizza is like cardboard.

I need a lot less sugar/honey in my tea, and I don't put any in green.

I need no seasoning on veggies because they're so flavourful. Everything is bursting with flavour now that I'm consuming less artificial foods. Almonds are much sweeter. Fruit is heavenly and I'd much prefer an organic Granny Smith apple to cheesecake.

This doesn't mean that I don't have off moments where I tell myself I desperately need junk food and consider running to the store to grab the fattiest ice cream available, but the more I force myself to ignore those cravings the more I appreciate real food.

It's very interesting to read what people have written on this topic.  I have found some changes too.

I bought a huge platter of deep fried foods - thinking it would be a delectable treat - and even though I ate some, it was a huge let down.  It just had a weird taste and a bad texture.  It left my mouth feeling coated and nothing else tasted good until after I brushed my teeth.

However, I had a major craving for poutine last week and I indulged it at Costco.  I didn't eat all of it but those white cheese curds covered with thick gravy and those crispy fries.... yum!  It was SO good.  Yet strangely, I used to detest gravy and would never eat poutine.  I suspect my body was craving something - maybe the saturated fats - that I've cut back on so drastically.

I'm actually losing my taste for chocolate - hard to believe from someone who used to be called "Chocky" back in the day.  It just has the wrong texture somehow - I think it's the fat.

I've gained a huge taste for fish.  I always liked it but now I can even eat the skin and any kind at all - it's SO good.

I'm trying to gain a taste for wheat germ next!

havent lost my taste for anything since i have always eaten healthy...

but i never used to eat fish which i LOVE now...and i didnt use much oil in cooking but it adds such flavor in small amounts and healthy fats too. i also love tomatos now too :)

I use to be a sodium addict..
Loved anything with salt.

Now, I despise it .
Makes me bloat..
I never use table salt and don't plan too.. ;)

giasbash6260, don't you ever treat yourself? It doesn't have to be unhealthy ... a few dates, a banana, some houmous? LOL. Each to one's own, I guess! I eat a lot of vegetables, too (always have), but I don't think I could live with your diet!

I've always hated salt. Strange, actually ... since trying to eat healthier I've actually increased my tolerance for it. I can now eat soy sauce and stuff which I previously thought were way too salty. The other week I went over 2000mg for the first time evvvveeer.

Reading these is really interesting

well i'm only 15, and though i do eat healthy, i haven't completely lost the taste of these foods, but i rarely ever eat them. birthday cake (hate the frosting), potato chips, regular crust pizza (i'll eat it, but i like thin crust soooo much better), many desserts, mcdonald's burgers, wendy's baked potatoes w/ cheese, restaurant chicken strips, a lot of foods at restaurants, loaded cheese fries, donuts. and thats all i can think of haha, but i know there's more.

and i've gained tastes for soymilk, BRUSSELS SPROUTS (i love them), salmon and shrimp, fat free cream cheese, oatmeal, and now i have to have vegetables with dinner every night (unless we order out and it's not possible to get them).

I don't think I've lost the taste for anything as I still eat most of the same foods just smaller amounts of the bad stuff and less often. I realised I like oatmeal though :)

Oh actually I don't really like the cereal crunchy nut anymore because I used to eat up to 3 bowls a day back when I was gaining weight and now it just seems really sickly when I eat it :|

Any sort of fish I wouldn't eat before I started this. But now I love making tuna sandwiches and have been craving tilapia and salmon.

Also I use to hate carrots and celery and now I eat them.

I noticed I dont feel the need to eat greasy food if other people in the house are. Like when someone is making onion rings, they will make a lot so people can take some or they will ask if I want some, and usually I would say yes but now I just make my healthy food and eat that instead. i have gained more selfcontrol then i had before. although sweets are still a weekness.

God, maybe I should just put the things I haven't lost the taste for. :P But I usually don't eat anything pre-packaged anymore unless it is peanut butter.

I used to eat fast food once in a rare while, pizza now and then, oreos daily... granted I was never overweight, but I don't touch that stuff now. I thought that after not having sweets like cookies or cake would make me binge if I were to ever have a bite. But if I do have one with family or something, I find it either satisfying to just have one, or I feel disappointed, like, "hey, 300 calories for THAT? I could have had some peanut butter instead.. :P"

i used to love to eat either pretzels or wheat thins with my sandwich for lunch.  now i don't ever eat them anymore (i know pretzels seem healthy but i read on some website that they are one of the worst "healthy" snacks).   now it's not like i feel deprived, i just don't need anyhing with my lunch.  or if i do, i now love to eat carrots or some veggie.

b/c i'm lactose intolerant, i don't eat cheese, milk, or ice cream anymore.  i've def lost my taste for dairy!

i eat a banana, apple, orange everyday.  i've gained a taste for grapefruits! now i love them! and rasberries.  i love me some fruit! :)

It is amazing how that works. I've completely lost intrest in fried chicken and bleached white bread. And soda. Blehh.

I've developed a taste for salmon and wheat bread. I'm sure there are other things also, but I can't think of them now.

Things  I gained the taste for are bananas, jello, wheat bread and lean cuisine

Things I've lost the taste for hamburgers, pizzas, white bread, m & ms, enchaladas and fries
