The ones I look forward to coming around are.....   English asparagus, fresh chestnuts, fresh cob-nuts & my very own home-made Christmas Pudding

list a food in each category that you only have during special occasions. preferably something you like...and will you be eating it this year?

I like all of these and will have a little bit when they are served.

1. candy - Coconut cream Easter eggs from See's Candy (local company), and my cousin's homemade "turtles."

2. cookie/bar - My aunt's Pizzelle (very thin anise flavored waffle cookies) made for every holiday an special occasion by the hundreds.

3. main dish (turkey, honey ham, tamales, etc) - Roast Lamb at Easter, Roast Turkey at Thanksgiving, Roast Beef for Christmas, and Roast Pork on New Year's Day.

4. side dish (baked yams, green bean casserole, etc.) - Roasted red peppers with garlic and olive oil on any holiday, asparagus vinaigrette at Easter, beautiful, crisp romaine salad with a simple vinaigrette at just about every meal.  sauer kraut & applesauce with that roast pork on New Year's Day, roasted baby potatoes with roast beef or roast lamb. (and something I never eat - my aunt's icky sweet candied sweet potatoes)

5. pie/cake - My daughter's pumpkin cheesecake on Thanksgiving.  My cherry cobbler when the pie cherries are ripe.

candy: peppermint bark. or candy corn
cookie/bar: sugar cookies
main dish: honey ham, definitely
side dish: sweet potatoes
pie/cake: pumpkin cheesecake

1. candy

turtles - we make them every year for the holidays

2. cookie/bar

gingerbread

3. main dish (turkey, honey ham, tamales, etc)

gilumpkis (polish stuffed cabbage).

5. pie/cake

oreo pie.  It's only made around christmas time, because it is my brother-in-law's birthday and it is his favorite pie.

1. candy - Peppermint bark - So easy and whole fam thinks I'm genius with confections.

2. cookie/bar - Butterscotch ginger cookies - Another easy, but tastes complicated goodie.

3. main dish (turkey, honey ham, tamales, etc) - Hubs is a chef, so Christmas is always something cool and yummy.  I do love my MIL's turkey, too.

4. side dish (baked yams, green bean casserole, etc.) - Purple mashed potatoes.

5. pie/cake - MIL's apple cranberry pie.  Yummers!

This was fun!  I am also more motivated to run now, so I can enjoy these goodies guilt free!

1. candy: Peppermint bark! Oh so good! Saw some yesterday at Harry and David's and the boyfriend and I got excited! I also love Reese eggs and cadbury caramel eggs at Easter

2. cookie/bar: My best friend's mom's Christmas cookies! Her cut out Christmas trees with green sprinkles are amazing! She better send me a tin this year lol

3. main dish (turkey, honey ham, tamales, etc): Green bean casserole. I know that is a side dish but being a vegetarian, the GBC is my main course on Thanksgiving

4. side dish (baked yams, green bean casserole, etc.): Baked sweet potato

5. pie/cake: Pumpkin of course

GI Jane: What's in your christmas pudding? Im curious!

My mom makes homemade chocolate chip cookies which I just DEVOUR. We also buy a box of artisan chocolate from a local chocolate shop....the almond butter crunch toffee is AMAZING. Everyone in my family has been trying to lose weight almost my whole life so we never have sweets in the house except during the holidays. I don't really like traditional thanksgiving food much...I'd almost rather skip dinner and just have desert. On christmas my mom makes lobster tails...yummy!

Stollen (sort of a Cerman fruit cake, only its a yeast bread, sweet with candied fruits and cardomom)

Pumpkin pie (only now that I've veg, its more of a veg cheesecake)

Fudge

Peeps man I love those peeps, the only time I cheat and eat marshmallow (I'm veg and most have gelatin)

Oh no, you forgot the best category!

Drink--EGGNOG!!!  Yum, and you betcha I'll be havin' it!

1. Mini hersheys bars!  I know we have them year round, but they're kind of a Christmas thing for me. . .I always used to get some in my stocking:)

3.  Ham baked in pineapple and cloves.  (Christmas dinner)

4.  Sweet potatoes!  (Anytime in the fall or winter)

5.  Pumpkin bars!  My mom makes them, so good!

I'm eating them all!

1. candy - Godiva Chocolate.  I always used to buy a box for my mom for Christmas, but I won't this year because unfortunately, she's been diagnosed with diabetes.  So I can't very well show up with illness in a box.

2. cookie/bar -  any of Mom's homemade cookies, but see above, so this year probably not

3. main dish - my special lentil recipe with the phyllo crust.  I made it last year for Thanksgiving and I'm going to again.  The secret is the red wine in the sauce

4. side dish - salad: celery with walnuts and a homemade champagne vinaigrette.  Also a Thanksgiving recipe

5. pie/cake - pumpkin!  Yes!

1. candy: minature heros from a tin, around all year but we only have them at Christmas

5. pie/cake - Apple pie with chocolate ice cream.

Carrot Cake. Not really yule time inspired but we have it during this season anyways.

1. candy

Halloween- Candy Corn..I love the stuff!(And yes, I've already ate some. Ha Ha.)

Christmas: Candy Canes and my grandmother's peanut butter fudge she gives to the family each year as a gift. Peanut Brittle! (Will probably have all.)

Easter pretty much has candy I can have anytime of the year except not shaped like an egg. Lmao.

2. cookie/bar

Christmas: I love the Archway little Christmas cookies shaped like Christmas trees, stars and bells with red and green sugar on them. Not sure if I'll have some this year, but they are great!

Gingerbread cookies are always good as well (and not too bad in the calorie department either!)

Pumpkin Donuts from Dunkin Donuts (I've already had some. ;)) Along with the Pumpkin Spice Latte (also had!) and their pumpkin muffin..which I have sadly passed on after I realized I could eat a frickin big mac for even less cals then the muffin. Ha Ha.
