Any foods out there that you are still shocked about how high in calories they are?

So are there any foods out there that are so high in fat and calories that you just still can't believe they are? For instance my boyfriend really likes those Digornio for one pizzas. The cheese pizza has 720 calories and 30 g of fat!!! They are tiny pizzas too! About the size of a lean cuisine one! He gets the "traditional" crust ones so they are thick but can we say Eeeeew??? Also I love panera bagels! Makes me sad that the whole grain ones have 350 calories in them! Oh well i still had one for breakfast today lol!! Also most cookies. I hate when little things are super high in calories haha. Please share yours!

Restaurant desserts...

Starbucks goodies

Really any restaurant food is always higher than expected, even if you think you are choosing "healthily"

Cheesecake

packaged cookies (who eats just 2-3?)

Quiznos Subs...

A large tuna melt has 2090 calories and 175g of fat! (A large veggie has 1220 calories and 75g of fat!) Even my non-dieting friends have vetoed the best sub place in town!

One that shocked me as well is Bananas..it's fruit so you assume it may be low cal..then find out a small one is like 90 calories and up. Undecided

I think nuts and raisins... i thought them were just low cal :L:L

Morning cereal... I used to have a huge bowl of Frosted Flakes and milk almost every day... not anymore. The amount of calories is very high for not that much food...

Salmon was another unexpected high calorie food for me, that is what I used to go for when I wanted to "diet"...

And I guess my biggest surprize was fruit juice... I used to have it all the time, I know that the real juices that are home-made are ok, but the ones that come from the store are packed with calories...

ANYTHING from Starbucks. I tried getting a cookie from there once and checked the calories afterwards thinking to myslef, "It was pretty big, maybe 200ish?" It was 450! I was torn between being furious at them and being impressed that they'd managed to pack that much into such a small amount of food...

Yes but look up a small turkey ranch, or honey burbon.  Very nice and taste wonderful.

NUTS!!--UGGHHHH SO GOOD

Cake ( I already knew, but still)
Breakfast Cereal
Processed "Fruit" Juices (welchs, dole, etc.  sugar sugar sugar preservativs 5-30% juice corn syrup)

I just about fell off my chair when I saw how many calories starbucks coffies have in them! I USED TO drink one almost every single day- If i can cut those out completly, I bet the scale would show me what I want to see in no time.....but its an addition!!!!!

Yes... foods from Outback! They just sit there and take a nice steak, then slather it in butter to bump the calorie count up sky-high!

And in resturaunt baked potatoes... there is NO need for a side dish (one that was formerly innocent) to surpass the 600 calories markYell

Hmmm... a few others...

  • honey buns
  • nuts
  • muffins
  • ribs
  • french fries
  • scones
  • bagels
  • macaroni and cheese
  • Poptarts
  • Granola

Luckily, I was never really a fan of any of those foods! Hehe

hard to believe but I really didn't know that cheese had so many calories. I just never thought about it. But I ate a whole lot more than I should of before I even realized. Oh well looks like its time to buy some low-fat.

I'm not even sure what the calorie content is for the cheese I eat because its measured in cubes and not slices

muffins and bagels also... both of which I used to eat with cheese

Yeeaa... cheese, i thought it was realy low cal, as well as cream :S

i totally died when i looked at the calorie count for the crunchwrap supreme at taco bell. it was so good! D: eh, it's okay...one of their fresco tacos have under 200 or 300 cals, I don't remember.

Starbucks. I was so shocked. What goes into the coffee that makes them so high calorie?!

Dunkin Donuts..I expected high calories but for one cookie, giantish as it may be, it was 600-something calories!

wut??

potatoes??

lol, well they are not realy high cal, they are 1 cal per gram more or less :P thats not that much

Avocados - I love you dearly, my green mushy friends, but you are practically made of fat. Like eating butter (Well, not really!)

Peanut butter  - It seems like common sense that you would be loaded with fat, but when I learned that the serving size for peanut butter was 2 tbsp and as loaded with fat as it is, my quality of life when down the toilet. I love you dearly as well, peanut butter, but it seems we can never be together. Cry

peanut butter for sure. 2 tablespoons is not enough haha.

cheese is really high too. like 100 calories for one slice. I used to eat 5 for a snack just standing in front of the fridge..ugg.

P.F. Chang's~ Don't be fooled by their menu! you think everything is decent in sodium and calories and then you realize that all their information is for one serving size-and theres 4 or 5 servings in one dish. The soothing lettuce wraps are around 1100 calories and 3000mg of sodium for just a piece of lettuce and chicken filling. I dont even know how they manage that. I could rant about restaurants seemingly superhuman way of packing ridiculous amounts of sodium and calories in their food. It's outrageous.

But avocados are not rly that high calorie, they are just lyk 150 kcal per 100g(ish) but that is not rly much, i think high cal would b 400 kcal ++ per 100g
