Any foods out there that you are still shocked about how high in calories they are?

So are there any foods out there that are so high in fat and calories that you just still can't believe they are? For instance my boyfriend really likes those Digornio for one pizzas. The cheese pizza has 720 calories and 30 g of fat!!! They are tiny pizzas too! About the size of a lean cuisine one! He gets the "traditional" crust ones so they are thick but can we say Eeeeew??? Also I love panera bagels! Makes me sad that the whole grain ones have 350 calories in them! Oh well i still had one for breakfast today lol!! Also most cookies. I hate when little things are super high in calories haha. Please share yours!

Anything prepared out of the home. I can't believe how many for fats and cals are added to foods in restaurunts compared to when I make them at home.

I still can't believe how many cals is in a 12" thin crust pizza...I used to eat those on my own! Fortunetly I don't care for cheese, so I take it off (I don't mind it on pizza, but what's the point of adding all those cals?).

Any frozen dessert! WOW! I bought a hearsy's cholocalate cake single for me and my bf and thought the whole thing was 280 cal...there were 2 in there! I let him have them both. lol

I do have a trick for these two:

Pizza: you can buy "slim sandwich bread" whole wheat in any bakery pretty much and it only has 100 cals.  I toast it, than smear on some Prego and veggies and miscrowave...so quick and guilt free (about 200 cals total)

ice cream: They make portion sized ones now...Klondike is great and it's only 100 cals...who says you can't have you're ice cream and eat it too?

I just found out that 1/4 cup of rice has 180 calories! And who eats 1/4 cup? I always used to eat like 2 cups of rice with my butter chicken. The rice alone had 1440 calories, never mind the rest of the meal. No wonder I'm overweight!

That is for uncooked rice.

UD

The label says for boiled rice.

Hot chocolate from McDonald's McCafe. It has 390 calories and it's made with non-fat milk. I can make homemade hot chocolate with whole milk, regular sugar,  and whipped cream for less that 200 calories a mug. I can't figure it out.

And for anybody who likes the shock factor of what's in restaurant food, you should check out a book called CalorieKing, Fat and Carbohydrate Counter. I have added at least 10 restaurants to my list of "no no's".

An Iced Mokacino from Tim Hortons.  600 calories !!!  In just one drink !

The one food I just CANNOT get over is rice. I am Asian and my family has always eaten at least 2 cups of steamed rice with every meal. That's 400 calories by itself! And rice is just considered a base for the *real* main courses! I hate missing out on homecooked meals. You just can't eat my family's food without a good amount of rice. It's so unfair Frown

Probably muffins and cheese cake they are 400- 600 calories yet they are my 2 favourite foods which sucks for me

Restaurant salads. I remember when they started making New York restuarants list calories on the menu-- there was that news story about how the burger dinner at some place was like 1300 cals and the salad was 1600.

That was when I realized that dieting as I understood it was a bunch of cultural nonsense based on nothing. Now I order what I want and eat half of it.

ya! cosmo brownies (processed/packaged ones) are 500 CALORIEs for a package. 500 frickin calories! ! are u kidding me???? it took me like 5 minutes to eat it!! all that bready/carb food is sooo high but good too. when i was binging i ate that stuff but no more

Natural peanutbutter only 2 tbs =210 cals :(

Olive oil - 1 tablespoon 119 calories. I used to drown everything in it

Friggin pop tarts... they're so sneaky. Serving size on the box says 1 pasty = 200 calories, but inside the box are those luminous foil packages that house 2 pastries... how can you open a package and not eat both?? AAAHHH that's 400 calories for 2 meesly (but addictively sweet) rectangles of iced-jam-cookie-stuff... grrrr

I'm still shocked by bagels(with cream cheese) and milk shakes.

I mean, of course they aren't going to be healthy, but I didn't think they'd be as bad as they were.
