Foods to Suppress Appetites?
A friend sent me this article on "the five best foods to suppress your appetite" (link below). The main point is that the best way to control your appetite while still dieting is to eat two cups of any low calorie food/drink. Does anyone have any other suggestions of good foods? I've always had a problem with an overactive appetite so this would be helpful. :) Thank you!

The article is interesting, but who could eat a whole jar of pickles? That wouldn't just suppress my appetite it would make me sick.
not to mention the water weight you'd gain from all the salt in pickles! but otherwise it was a good article.. :) thanks for the info!

geeez...... ive been drinking 4 cups of coffee per day, thinking that it surpesses appetite, and it does.
im not too sure though, i WANT to surpess my appetite anymore, as i am eating balanced and healthy food. I am exersising every day, and drinking by 8 glasses of water. I am losing 600 calories a day.
my surprise came when i found out how many empty calories i was consuming every day in the COFFEE CREAM. lol .......i have begun to log it , and its like 200 calories a day.
man....... many of my 'smart ones' meals are under 200 calories.

What kind of coffee cream do you use? I like adding soymilk to mine - and they make a lite type too. No saturated fat, no dairy, no hydrogenated vegetable oils that you get either in those horrid powdered 'creamers' and some of the liquid ones too.
try fat free half and half.. it tastes just like the real thing and 20 cal for 2 tablespoonfuls it's awesome! :)
wow
thanks guys!!! i will give it a shot!!!

I didn't read the article (but I'm drinking my coffee right now) and I bring non-fat milk from home. I sweeten the milk with a little splenda and ad either a couple of drops of vanilla or a sprinkle of cinnamon. Then I add it to the coffee that's here and it keeps me going for a while.
I find whenever I drink warm beverages - I get really filled up. Coffee, soup, etc. If I'm worried about a large calorie day - soup to the rescue!
That reminds me - today's lunch is broccolli cheese soup that I made yesterday with fat-free milk and fat-free cheese!

Protein is the key to feeling full......the body takes time digest it giving you the full feeling. Drinking to feel full works well too....
Drinking cold liquids actually cause you to burn more calories as the body has to warm it up prior to processing it.
Tom, more than likely it is the caffiene in your coffee that suppresses your appetite, since that is the main ingredient in most diet pills. Tea has as much caffiene, as well as anti-oxydants that we need. I have gone from 6-10 cups of coffee to 4 cups green tea and other varieties and I can really tell the difference.

i have found that at night when I am hungry and I know that it is too late to eat that a cup of chai tea holds me over. I like to add just a little bit of skim milk, or vanilla soy milk, with some splenda. It is full of antioxidents, and tastes awsome, it also comes in decaf.
If tea and coffee both have about the same amount of caffein in them, why is the tea better to drink? What's wrong with black coffee? Is is just because tea has anti oxidants? Is that the only reason it's better?
speaking of getting hungry late at night, i find i often have to eat if i'm up late working because if i don't, i get very very nauseous... does that happen to anybody? i've tried taking tums for it instead of eating and it helps a little, but i dont get why it happens. any insight?
