So last night I was watching Alabama kick Clemson's booty...and my brother, sister-in-law and I did a fun little work out. Every time Alabama scored we did as many push ups as the score. So first we did three. Then we did six. Then we did thirteen. And so on. It was tough when the score got up to 34! My arms we shaking last night, and they're sore today! But since we did the push ups as celebration for our team it wasn't bad, because we were so happy. If any of you guys watch sports I highly recommend doing this!
I'm not going to take credit for coming up with it though--my other brother and sister-in-law actually came up with while cheering for Appalachian State.
wooo seallain this is off topic but I go to BC and football is HUGE here too! I watched parts of that game on ESPNU in between watching BC kick Kent state's ass!
Excellent! I didn't catch any of BC's game, but congratulations on the win! I know I didn't expect Bama to win...man...I hope we do well this year. My arms are gonna look hot if we do!!!
I'm clueless about sports. But way to go making watching TV into something that makes your muscles sore! :-)
I really REALLY need to work on my arms. I honestly don't think that I can do more than maybe 3 push ups.
I've been doing a lot of contemplating about what it was that I was doing for weight loss after I had my first born to go from my current weight now (which it was then) to 115, which I would be happy with at my current thought process.
The differences are that at that time in life I was working full-time and having only one child, I am now a full-time homeschooling mom/college student to three children. We have a family gym membership at HealthTrax that has daycare for the younger two as well as a pool that is useable throughout the entire year. I live in a busy residential/commercial area so walking around the house is not a very good idea – at least not with the children.
I have yet to find a time, or a way, to be able to get to the gym during the day where it won’t interfere with other things that I have happening – which almost makes for it being a waste of money. I’m wondering if perhaps I should try for the children and I to go to the gym first thing in the morning instead of doing our studies first. The daycare is open from 9 – 1 M – R and closes from 1 – 4:30 p.m., and then it doesn’t even open at all until 4:30 on Friday’s. If we went in for first thing in the morning, then after I’m done with my workout & cardio, then the children and I could go into the pool for about an hour, come home, and then work on studies. I’m not sure though if they would be calm enough after this in order to concentrate on their studies.
Does anyone have any suggestions about this or have been in similar situations? I’d hate to go for 4:30 because then the children wouldn’t really be able to go swimming because there would only be enough time for me to go up for an hour and then come home for dinner – this is also the time during which my husband goes in.
Last year I started going to the gym at 6:00 am before the kids got up for school. My husband was still home at that time to be there for the kids. I would usually get home a little after 7 am in time to get the kids ready for their day. It was difficult training my body to rise that early, but once I got used to it, I really liked it. I only did it two or three times a week, but it made a big difference. I stopped doing it this summer because our schedules were a lot looser, but now that school is starting again, I plan on starting again. If there is someone home with your children early in the morning, that may be the way to go.
Hi Laura and thanks for the reply!
When I was going faithfully it was before everyone else in the household woke up and I was there for about 2 hours daily before work. I then got ill and didn't end up going back because of a lapse in my then gym membership.
That's a good idea. Perhaps I should look into doing that again and then having the pool time for the kids after studies are done. Just got to try to get my body up in time. The oldest is at the age where he can care for the younger two for a short while, so I could always use him as a back-up plan if things do continue to go south in my marriage. :(
