I am 5'8.5". I weigh 149.5. I would love to know other peoples' weights and goal weights that are around my height! Please post. Right now, my goal weight is 130-135.

I'm 5'8" and at 143 right now...trying to get down to 130 (127 or 128 is my ideal goal)!! supposedly the healthy range is from 133 to 150 if you're 5'8" and medium-boned like moi --according to some BMI calculator i used...but I'm not sure how accurate that one is.

that's a terrible attitude to have. 9 pounds isnt too much to ask, and if you put your mind to it, you can do it.

Trust me when I say, my mind has been put too it for a long time now!  I'm just stuck!  I up my calories, down my calories, up my exercise, down my exercise...nothting happens.  I'm a little frustrated, I know 9 pounds isn't too much too ask....which is why I can't figure out why it's so impossible for me to do. 

On the other side of that though, my bad attitude is only aimed towards those last few pounds I wish too be gone (if they don't go away, oh well :-P).  I'm a super happy person and I'm very grateful that I am in shape and healthy.  I just wanted to clarify myself :-)

I'm 5'9" and about 150. yuck haha.

 

I got down to 139 a couple months ago but I was binging like crazy from like stress and w/e so now I'm back up to 150. Eew. My pants are tight and its awful.

 

My goal is 135. :)

I am 5'8" and right now I weigh 156.5. My goal is to get down to 145.

130 is too light for that height. Check the BMI tool. I don't know your age but at your height, it doesn't matter all that much. 140 is about perfect.

I'm 5'7.5 and 130 is really too light for me. Figure 100 lbs for 5 feet, and 5 lbs an inch for every inch over. That actually puts you at the lower end of the BMI range but not the Lowest, not too close to unhealthy.

 I resent this statement. I feel very healthy and look very healthy and I weighed in this morning under 125 at 5'8". Just like everyone else says it depends on the person.

No, actually, it is not about bone structure, etc. It's about organ size/weight, healthy bone density, etc. There are some great web sites that will explain about how to "see" where the weight is. Underweight is underweight, and too low of a bmi is underweight. Having said that, if you did full immersion testing for body fat and found you were somehow miraculous still in a healthy bmi at 5.8 and 125, then you could say that. Just judging on "how you look" without recognizing medical evidence is not a viable response and could justify any weight, regardless of how unhealthy.  

The website rules make it clear that the science is accepted here and is used to set the parameters for healthy weight loss. I think it is really important for people to be aware when they are setting unhealthy goals.

I'm 5'9'', 154... trying to get down to 145 or so, but nothing too far below that. My bone structure is pretty huge (you should see my wrist/hip bones, it's odd >.>) and I'm rather muscly for some reason, so I don't think going below 140 would look good on me at all. But eh, we'll see~

I'm 5 ft 9, currently 144, aiming for 130. I would strongly advise against anyone of my height going much lower than 130. I used to suffer from an eating disorder and got down to just about 120. I looked unhealthily skinny and I was always cold and tired, I think losing when you are within the healthy BMI range already is fine, but don't go outside it.

5'8" 1/2 and 133.  Whoever said that 130-135 is underweight is wrong, that is not considered an underweight bmi - 19.8-20.5 is in the normal range.

I'm 5'8 and a bit at 112. I went from 143 to 103 in a couple of months. Im looking to tone up and go back in the 110s. 

I'm 5'9 and 185...so far it's my all time high.. I'm roughly a size 12.  But I honestly think it's mostly muscle mass.  Of course there's some fat in there, but a lot of muscle. 


My goal is 155-160...or at least to look a bit more toned that I am now.

I'm barely scraping 5'9" and I weigh 135lbs.

I'd like to be about 126. I know this sounds a bit silly, but I have small bones and I'v been this weight before and it looks good and is still healthy for me.

I am surprised that anyone 5'8" or 5'9" and weighed under 140 would think they even had to lose weight! You all must be young, lol.

I'm 5'9" and 'medium' build- was size 6/8 @ 145-50 at my thinnest.

but I am older now...kids/life/etc...weight up down over the years.

I look 'good' at 160-170 ( about size 10/12)  that's my goal and what I can maintain if i watch what i eat and exercise.  But I'm higher than that now, why I am here :)

lol ~ i am 33 ~ just had a birthday last week ~ woop! 

now more than ever i feel i have to keep my weight down ~ i was just 105 this summer and i have gained 20 pounds! 

i ran 2.5 miles this morning, and will do it again before work tonight ~ 

summer will be here any minute.. sigh. 

It's been a while since the original posters said what their weight loss goals were. How close is everyone to their 'ideal weight'?

I'm 5'8" and doing what I can to make it down to 140 (slowly). Nutrition is far more important to me than losing weight quickly, so it's happening at about 1 or 2lbs a month.
