Im no expert, but your body is probably starved for nutrients, that might be why you ate so much.   You need food to live. Ive never had an ED, so im not poking fun. 2900 is an awful lot in my opinion for your weight. Just allow your body to accept the food you gave generously givin it, and start over again tomorrow.  Best of luck

If you are under doctor supervision I say go for it!  Id love to be able to eat that much.   smiles and hugs
If your looking to gain weight and not feel so full all the time, popcorn isnt very filling, but you can LOAD it up with with the liquid popcorn butter. (found in grocery stores.) Its LOADED with fat and calories. 

Also 2 tbspoons of peanut butter has as many calaries as a slimfast. 180 or more depending on the brand. Grab a spoon and a jar of peanut butter and have at it.  Its not very filling, but can help you up your calories.

I think you should listen to what your body is telling you, and feed it when its hungry.   I really reccommend talking it over with your doctor.  best of luck and huggs!

Hey, I wanted to let you know that you are doing wonderfully and gaining 10 pounds has brought your body one step closer to being at a healthy balance.

When you start to feel worried an sick remember that this is your brain unfairly sending you the wrong signals, and that your body really does appreciate the energy it needs to keep you strong.

I haven't had an ED, so I know I can only guess at just how hard it must be. But I can wish you the strength and courage to keep fighting, especially on days when you feel at your worst!

Edit: I forgot to ask if you have regular counseling or medical supervision? Because dealing with the underlying psychological cause of an ED (which as a result leads to healthy weight gain) is crucial to recovery. You need all the support you can get :)

Hey, Im recovering from bulimia too! 

I was anorexic for about two years, and instead of recovering and gaining weight healthily I just sort of switched over to bulimia, and two years later I am now close to being overweight (I was pretty underweight when I had anorexia). So instead of trying to gain weight, I'm trying to lose it, but I'm trying to do it healthily this time.

When I was in IP, it wasn't uncommon for them to feed me close to 3000 calories a day, but in real life this might be too much for you. Not from a health stand point, but because when you're own your own you need to maintain some level of comfort with how much you're eating so you don't revert back to old behaviors. 

Personally, I like your idea of getting to 109 pounds and then letting your body go where it wants to go. If eating 1600-1800 calories is enough to gain weight while not causing you great distress, then by all means go for it.

Remember that your body is deprived of nutrition and health, so if you do go over the limit that you want, your body is probably trying to compensate for all the damage over the years. And that an overnight ten pound weight gain is probably water weight and/or undigested food, so don't let that ruin your progress in recovery!

Hi there Meesh :] I saw your post in the ED Recovery thread, but couldn't remember your stats so thought I'd reply over here! Heh. First up, don't weigh yourself over a day lots of times if you can help it. It's impossible to gain 10lbs of honest-to-God weight (as in, fat) unless you eat 35,000 (yes, thousand!) calories in one day! And I highly doubt you did that, right? :] What it really is is water and food. Bowel movements also affect weight. Keep weigh-ins to once a week, it'll give you a more realistic view of your weight.

Stats-wise... you only have a BMI of 16.5. It's likely that your bingeing is being brought on by your body by the fact that you're quite underweight - it's a sort of survival mechanism. :[ I would begin to increase your intake to a steady higher level. Aim for consistency for a week or two, and then weigh in and see if you've gained at all or not. :] A 2,500 calorie average intake doesn't seem like too much to me, though - it's the level gainers really ought to start working from to put on weight. It is hard, but possible. The "Weight Gainers: What did YOU eat today?" thread is very helpful if you need food ideas, as is the stickied high-calorie food list.

To stay safe of bingeing, make sure you eat a big breakfast and then continue to eat in spaced out meals over the day. And you will see some absurd gains at first, but this will be on the majority water again - so I would stay away from the scales for a while if seeing a sudden gain will cause you anxiety. Drink lots of water/fluids in accordance with upping your calories, as they reduce water retention and flush out excess sodium/help move along any extra fiber you might be introducing in.

One more thing... your hair falling out may indicate anemia. You might want to get your blood tested; I'm severely anemic, so I feel your pain. My hair has been coming out in wadges, lately. .__. I hope this is somewhat helpful, and feel free to ask more questions if you need to. Good luck!

Meesh: I understand what you mean. When you say uncomfortable, do you mean physically or mentally? :[ Physically, the best way around it is eating smaller meals little and often, and eating more calorie-dense foods like nuts/nut butters, avocados, protein shakes, high sugar fruits like bananas, oily fish (not as dense as some, but still), oats, dried fruit... there's lots around to make it more comfortable. :] Mentally... hm. It seems like numbers are a trigger for you - I know they were for me - so perhaps try asking someone to hide the scale from you for a week or so before you can weigh in again? Or hide it altogether? Honestly, it's better to start feeling comfortable in your own skin rather than basing it all on numbers and digits. I only weigh in with my GP now and I'm happy that way, especially as her scale isn't a cheap useless one that fluctuates by about ~5lbs randomly. Heh.

Eating more will get you stability eventually, hun. :] It will make things jumpy at first, but after a week or so it will level out. I know how terrifying it is, though, so don't worry about sounding panicked.

I just wanted to say that your body does need to gain and that you need to eat those extra calories for replenishing your body.

I am a moderator here on the weight gain forum and although CC is a place to come to for help and advice, it is not to promote purging or suggest unhealthy habits.

It looks like you mean well and are reaching for help, but others here on this site do not need to fall into old habits by reading postings of other members.

Please when you update, if you do not have something positive or something helpful to address, then just say that you are struggling or something other than negative behavior.

You may message me at anytime....I am here for you to talk with, but please do understand that gaining weight for an ed is a great thing, but should not be promoted in a negative way.
