Don't do it!!

Don't give in to your ED.  It wants to keep you miserable.  One binge will NOT make you fat.  It does NOT make you a bad person or weak.  ED lies and tells us all sorts of mean things but they aren't true.

Can you distract yourself?  Watch tv or call a friend or something?

If you purge there is a good chance you'll blow the connection between ur esophogus and stomach from the pressure. Do you want that? Nope.

Don't do it. It'll kill you in the long run.

Or better yet, go for a walk/jog/bike ride. Sitting around looking at the TV wont help ><

Sorry, I couldn't think of much off the top of my head thus the tv idea (it helps me sometimes sit with the full feeling, but I don't purge)...if you can exercise safely that's a good idea, I was hesitant to recommend it because I know for me if I work out after overeating it is purely ED motivated.  A walk might be relaxing.

I wish there was something I could say that would work. I've been that girl in a similar situation so I should know, but really only you can make that decision.

Eating disorders change the way you think (all you think about is food and negative thoughts about yourself), how you feel (hungry, ashamed or nothing at all), the way you see (temptation in the form of food or imperfection in the form of fat on your body, whether real or imaginary)  so sometimes you know what the right thing to do would be but find yourself unable to actually follow through. Ask yourself what the purging is going to do for you, or to you.

It'll harm your body, the only one you have in this life. It'll make you feel empty, miserable and sore - you may even end up with one of those nasty headaches that follow. It'll just make you feel worse. You cannot undo your binge; by purging you're not nullifying a mistake, you're just making a new one.

Focus on something that makes you extremely happy, some thought, activity, a piece of music. Know that you don't have to purge.

y dont you get urself out of this??

u know if u purge you are restarting the cycle over again.

if you want it to change-change it.

but it is not the responsibility of us here to talk you down from this. if you dont want to do it (which clearly you dont) then dont do it.

full stop

thank you. i've got a friend on aim and she's gonna call my mom if i'm away from the computer for more than five minutes. thanks again.

So, I take it compassion is not your strong suit.  Wow!!

cavaliers?? have we met b4..... NO. we havent. actually in the correct forum compassion is one of my strong points.

ur here all of  1 month??? yeah we'v had the perverbial gun put to our heads from swimchick before. and i personally dont think its fair to launch a demand on one of us to stop her damaging herself. this is not the 1st. so il thank you to keep ur nasty comments to urself regarding my levels of compassion.

i am a sufferer of an eating disorder. so i do feel i have some grounds to make that point to swimchick. we have a history and so this is not a random comment for her. but since i dont know you and you dont know me i will thank you not to cast judgement on who i am

Wow, again.  Yes, I am relatively new to the boards - maybe that's why I noticed it - it seemed very harsh.  And, correct, again, I don't know swimchick, still, when someone is admitting the problem and seeking support I don't see what the problem is.

I have gone through my share of issues (not ED's) in my life, and I agree, there comes a time to buck up, however, I would be taken aback to be spoken to like that.

I apologize for offending you.  It's a shame we cannot hear the inflection in a person's voice because we type on forums.  So many times there's a flare up when it probably wouldn't happen in real life........
