Is it okay if i eat about 1200-1400 calories a day even though i work out everyday? I am pretty sedetary except the working out part, i usually jog on the threadmill and lift small weights cause i dont have enough money to go to the gym. I don't feel hungry with this amount and am eating the right foods, plenty fiber, protein, good carbs, good fat and i only drink water. The thing is i work out at night sometimes and i feel bad about eating after that cause i feel like it defeits the purpose and feel like im gaining everything back, and then i heard its not good to eat carbs at night, so there's few choices...what should i do? i need to lose 30 lbs! :( this is hard work
If you're typing this, you must know on some level this isn't enough food even if you don't feel hungry. If you're that active you should be aiming for about 1800. You don't want your metabolism to get stuck and decide to stop working as well. Try eating a larger breakfast. Breakfast should be your largest and most carb-laden meal of the day as this will rev up your metabolism to work all day for you. If you find you're running low on calories towards the end of the night, have something without much carbs. A few slices of lean turkey will fill you up and help you get to sleep.
Good luck!

I had a glass of soy chocolate milk, is that enough? That brings my calories to 1300 today and i worked out, but only for 30 min and also did an hour of salsa class but that wasnt very tiring at all. I'm a vegetarian, so not meat for me lol hmm im just wondering what else i can eat right now..im about to go to sleep in maybe 2 hours so i dont want to fill my tummy right before i sleep. Can i have fiber 1 before i sleep?
There's nothing wrong with eating before bed. I do it all the time and still lose weight. Something light like a cup of fiber one and a half a cup of milk isn't bad at all. =)
I think you should focus more on your deficit than on your total intake. You should aim for a 500 calorie deficit, never more than 1000. So log your exercise and if you work off 2500 calories for a total day, you want to eat between 1500 and 2000 for that day. If this seems high, don't forget that your added muscle will burn more fat and will help you lose weight - as well as make you look nice and toned as you lose instead of flabby!
is pistacchio nuts okay to eat before i go to sleep? i am eating some as i type lol they are so good!

Nuts are almost always a good choice!
I didn't realize you were vegetarian. I'll have to start thinking of some other good, late night snacks. I'm fond of graham crackers. Yes, they're carbs but they have lots of fiber too. And it's better for me than the cookies I used to eat. :)
When in doubt, just go with fruits and veggies. I could type and eat carrot or celery sticks all night long.

That's the thing, i dont know my deficit, its always confusing to me to figure that out. All i know is i work out everyday(started a week ago) and burn between 300-600 cal. each work out. I also go to school 3x a week, so i walk a few min. on those days going to school and just started takes dance classes to be more active. I don't know my bmi or w.e. thats called, its so complicated to know how many cal. to eat, i always feel like i will eat too much and not lose weight. :/

I'm 21 years old, height is 5'4, weight is about 143 lbs. This is the heaviest i've ever been and im so depressed about it, i had to change my life
^ Agreed. Sucks, doesn't it? Good luck with your weight loss. :)
I work out at curves 5 times a week without much other exercise in between and I try to eat around 1300 cals a day. My metabolism has not slowed down and my body is not in starvation mode. I'm 5'3, 127 lbs though... I reckon 1800 cals will be too much. You will lose very slowing probably, but in the end you should listen to your own body and make use of CC's tools. hehe
Thanks..i am gonna go with about 1400 cal a day. I just planned out everything i plan on eating today so i dont go over or under:)
