My friend told me she lost weight losing a diet pill. She looks great, but I don't know if I want to use pills to help me lose weight. Does anyone have any advise for or against it. I am trying to lose upwards to 100 pounds. I am 237 trying to get to 160. Any advice would be wonderful....
I wouldn't use it. The key to keeping the weight off is changing your lifestyle, so once you stop taking the pill you might some back. I'm sure you can lose weight without a diet pill. Patience, you can do it!
Don't do it....
Got a year to spare? It took me a year to lose 100+ lbs. I started same weight as yourself basically.
U can do it without the harmful pills!

There are no quick weight loss secrets -- eat fewer calories than you are burning and eventually you will lose weight. I lost 30+ lbs and never used a diet pill in my life. I counted calories and got support from the very people on this forum.
Combine a healthy reduced calorie "diet" (of 1500+ calories) with regular exercise and you can almost guarantee weight loss and you will keep it off.
You do not know the effects of using diet pills long-term.
1st: what nycgirl said.
2nd: you'll probably notice the disclaimer on that bottle of diet pills that says "in combination with diet and exercise." basically, when these things do work, it's because people are doing what needs to be done.
Don't do it!
I second mars_0112 comment.. consider making changes in your lifestyle instead of taking the easy, quick and likely unsafe route of a diet pill.
I have lost close to 30 lbs since June of this year by first changing my bad eating habits for healthier, sustainable ones, counting calories and exercising... and by exercising I'm not talking spending countless hours in the gym! I swim 3 days a week for 45 minutes and walk outside for about an hour every single day of the week.
Do I wish I were able to lose weight faster? sure! but by doing it this way I am ensuring the weight will stay off for good!
Jess, YOU CAN DO IT!!
No no NO! Slimming pills, teas, wraps etc. are not effective! My cousin is currently taking slimming teas and all she ever does is to use the bathroom.
They can be harmful, cost a lot, and are usually not even effective. Eating healthy and exercising will do more for you than pills ever could. You will feel healthy and energetic and you will gain a ton of self-confidence just knowing you did it. Even if the pills did work, you'd would be skinny but you wouldn't feel the other great effects.
Again i dont suggest using diet pills i dont actually think they work and if they do it is all psychological , however i have used them in the past but can not say as to whether they did help me to lose weight becuase i changed my eating habit aswell it was inevitable that i would lose some of the weight... Also diet pills are usually made with ingredients that make you use the toilet more so the weight you do see is due to the loss of fluid and waste and most possibly not fat loss.
i know everyone on here says you shouldn't but if i could get them i would. not the over the counter pills they do not work. phentermine- adipex and fastin or didrex which is a amphetamine. i got them from a diet doc in nyc who prescribed them to anyone.. they worked killed my appetite and gave me energy. i went off them 3x and only the 1st time did i gain back quickly because i didnt change my eating going off them the other two times it was a 2-3 lb gain bc i changed my eating habbits.
the bad thing was they worsened my insomnia. and they where not cheap.
No to diet pills jess! Yes they may work but they can cause a series of health problems and most people end up gaining more weight than they lose in the first place. Why? Because, they either enhance your metabolism and/or curb your apetite; long term use most likely will lead to anxiety, depression and/or heart damage, for a few of common side effects. And if you use for a short time, after you stop using it you're likely to go back to your unhealthy eating habits and put on weight again. Don't fool around with your body, metabolism and hormones. Once they go whack, it takes longer to fix it than to take the healthy lifestyle change path. Most posts above said it: it's a lifestyle change. And you can do it one day at a time. I started in May also with a 100 lb to lose and so far I've lost 66 lb. And there are so many success stories on CC, so many of us on the same boat. Set a healthy daily calorie intake, log your calories in, keep yourself active with gym, walk, abs, pushups, cleaning, stairs, anything to help burning calories. One year may seem long, but time flies by and before you know it you got there. You can do this!!!without any diet pills.
What pill is it? I've tried a few with mixed resul

So true, diet pills are useless.. Someone said that they are the fast and easy way to lose weight??? I think we all wish that were true.
They seriously do nothing. Look at the active ingredients in Hydroxycut.. all it is is a bunch of glorified herbs.
HOWEVER, if you go visit your doctor, there are a few prescription diet aids that Dr's will give to people who actually need to lose weight.. not people who want to lose 10 pounds, but 100+. Some of the names are orlistat, bupropion, and there are some others. If you take them under your dr's supervision it's not unsafe, but can actually really help you.
oops double post
I've used Hydroxycut a few times, and I really like it. [Don't yell at me, lol] I just take half of the doses per day, because otherwise I experience insomnia because of the caffine. It definetly supresses my appetite, and gives me more energy. It also makes you sweat more during your workout so could potentially burn more calories. I actually took it before my workout this morning and run for almost 7 miles straight. Anyway, it gives me an extra boost, but it might not work for everyone.

DON'T.
Don't buy diet pills from some stranger. I can help you!
I have these magic beans, and for the low, low introductory price of one cow, preferably already butchered, I can sell them to you.
They'll do everything you need. You'll see the pounds fly off, as long as you don't break the rules that are on the label.
Oh, you can't read the print on the label? Here, let me sell you this eye tonic...
