No you need to gain weight and quickly... Keep up the good work! I know you might be sick of food but that could be because you keep eating the same things! Broaden your horizons! I do hope you are eating healthy FOODS while you gain weight though because gaining it by eating oreos, ice cream, etc is NOT the way to do it.
don't worry...i hardly eat any processed foods...plus i am vegan...i try to eat all foods that are dense in nutrients and protein
Woah….8000 calories a day is a lot to fit in, I love food but 8000 calories would a challenge!
Have you always been under weight, and before you started gaining weight were you eating a normal decent amount in the first place?
GIASBASH, SHUT UP. I am frankly wondering if you've gone to the doctor yet because your disordered eating is still SCREAMING at me through the monitor. Eating oreos, ice cream, and so on are FINE as part of ANY diet so long as they are in moderation. Furthermore, "No you need to gain weight and quickly..." yes, alright, but NOT like this! This person is in danger of really stressing their body out. Think before you press submit, hm?
idgk: 8000 calories a day is too much. You need to cut down slowly, okay? As much you can crash diet you can crash gain and you're doing this too quickly. If you rapidly gain you can stress your body and your organs out. Slowly lower it down in the next week until you're around 4000 calories, okay? SLOWLY. Go by about 500 calories down a day over the next seven days. A healthy and sustainable rate of gain is 0.5lbs to 2lbs a week.
Thank God someone said it... *does a dance*
In addition to the advice you've had from lalabanana, I just wanted to add that 145lbs or so would be a good initial target weight... BMI 20. But do focus on the 0.5-2lbs a week rather than trying to get there too quickly and giving yourself problems.
I have not been counting my calories but it seems i am usually always around 6000-8000...and yes...i can definatley tell i am stressing out my body...one of the reasons i say that is that i used to sleep 7 hours a night and now 11 is barely enough for me...
yes..i have been skinney my whole life...but last year i dropped 20 pounds due to excersize and i guess i wasn't eating enough. I am not annerexic...i am sick of people calling me that
all these doctors and nurses are screaming at me to gain weight and i'm so sick of it....They still don't think i'm gaining fast enough. On top of what i'm eating they told me to drink milkshakes everyday and 2 ensures. i don't understand doctors these days....i think 25 pounds in a month in a half is a LOT of weight to put on!!! And i've done it ALL with healthy foods! Its been very hard on a vegan diet...plus i cannot figure out what i am allergic too....I might be allergic to wheat or nuts/peanuts/soy....i can't narrow it down
every morning i wake up with a swollen face and i have a horrible skin condition on my knuckles and ankles
but anyways
Dare I say it, but IGNORE the doctors.
Your face is swollen because you are retaining water and putting stress on your organs. Please, start cutting your calories down. Work down to 4000. Look after yourself most of all. And quite honestly I'd go look for different doctors who won't potentially damn near kill you.
I don't think you're anorexic. I know that not every underweight person is anorexic, and it is shameful for one person to call another "anorexic", "fat", or anything else relating to weight in a derogatory manner, whether they are, or they are not. But please please please, you have to start lowering your intake to 4000. Gradually. 500 calories a day tops, over the course of a week, as not to stress your body further.
Once you're around there, again, try looking into a new doctor/doctors and speaking about your concerns over your allergy. It is possible any skin problems may be a result of your allergy or possible allergy - however, it may also be psoriasis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psoriasis
Either way, please look after yourself.
I thought 80000 calories sounded excessive, just like how eating only 200 calories a day is much to little.. Either extreme is very harmful
I am so glad LALA is here to help guide people like you, and I cannot believe medical experts would actually encourage you to rapidly gain weight.
I am interested to know, did medical professional tell you to eat 8000 calories? Or, if you told them you ate that much, did they say it was okay? I am interested to know because I am just at a loss at the terrible advice some “ experts” can give!
And don’t worry about people calling you anorexic, people that take the time to comment on other people’s bodies are usually just insecure about their own. Good luck gaining in a healthy way! Let us know how it goes!
thank you all for your advice
sorry i accidently deleted my post on the top of the page
I am definately sure i do not have Psoriasis
How do you think my body would react if tommorow i suddenly start only eating 4000 calories? It's not like I would lose weight would I????
I also had a question of how long it will take for the fat to even out throughout my body.....the first two weeks it all went straight to my butt and arms and now it is going to my bellybutton...
And i also had a question of how many grams of fat i should be under....I know 65g is a healthy number but for the amount of calories i've been eating that number is very small.....
My gastrointologist is the doctor who is so concerned about my weight....
You would very likely lose weight if you suddenly dropped to 4000. A lot of it might be water. The sudden decrease would also possibly cause your already stressed body more stress. Please take it slowly in your decreasing. Try 500 a day, maximum, over the course of just over a week. It would take eight days of decreasing by 500 a day to reach 4000 but this will likely be a lot safer than just dropping overnight.
The reason your weight gain has gone to your abdominal area is because it is trying to protect your organs. It does distribute but it takes time and SENSIBLE intake of calories.
A good ratio of carbohydrates, protein and fats is carbs at 50-60% of your caloric intake, protein at 10-15% and fats at 25-30%.

GIASBASH, SHUT UP.
Lala...that. was. amazing.
Something I've wanted to say for forever actually.
idgk-
Start by logging more carefully what you are eating. Find out specifically how much you are eating for a couple days, then take lala's advice. You don't want to get your body all confused or it really messes things up on the GI front [in addition to others]--I know first hand!
i third the GIABASH SHUT UP. .... if you'v nothn useful to say dont say it.
what do you mean by "protect your organs"? which organs is the fat trying to protect and why?
Most of your vital organs are in or near your abdominal area. Think about it. When you're drastically underweight your body starts taking energy and reserves from your muscles - and your organs are muscles. Your body's natural starvation response is to layer up and protect your organs from harm of various shapes and sizes.
In turn you could also be experiencing quite severe edema given your cal intake. When you press your thumb onto the areas you are swollen, does it leave an indentation that takes a long time to return it its normal appearance?
um....sort of...i can't really tell
i noticed that lalabanana gives lots of helpful advice to people on these forums..how did you get so smart? lol
by the way....today i counted calories and i've eaten 6000 and i feel a lot better...tommorow i will go down to 5500...and so on...until i reach 3500.
it is kind of weird how i'll wake up in the morning and for breakfast i'll eat a 1000 calorie breakfast and still feel miserablly weak and depressed until i reach 2000 later in the day.....it's like my body is requiring way to much food lately :/ I just want to eat like a normal person already...its frusterating eating all this food
It's okay if you're not sure what I mean, it is pretty hard to explain. The reason I asked about edema is that it can be a warning sign that you're putting a strain on your heart.
Personally, I'd try for lowering and adjusting to 4000 over 3500 for now as your intake was quite so high before. Too much a drop and you can shock your system as badly as too much food can! I'm glad you're starting to feel better, though! 5500 tomorrow and down to 4000 eventually will be quite doable. When you get to 4000, try taking in at least 500 cals in liquid (if you don't already) - it is a lot kinder on your system.
I've recently got back up to between 3000 and 4000 again myself and I know I'd be tired of eating too if I didn't drink a good chunk of my calories in soya milk (lactose intolerant ;[ But you can use dairy obviously) and in 100% juice. I make smoothies from time to time too :] This is a good one: Banana, honey & hazelnut smoothie - you can bulk it out with more milk, ice cream and more nuts, and obviously make it with normal dairy if desired. And it served one. xD
how did you get so smart? lol
I feed my brain. ;]
ok....thank you very much :)
