Is it just me me or...
do the same people pop up on the majority of forum questions??? Each time I look at someone's post, the same do-gooders are there! Offering their advice which of course is 'gospel' and never incorrect and must be obeyed! They are full of "actually this..." and "actually that..." and have to put their two pence worth into everything. Sometimes people just want opinions and a bit of a rant/vent and not science and fact drumed into them abut how and why they have gone wrong. I admit I chip into people's posts and such but there are some serial non trained wannabe nutritionists around here.
Rant over!
That cupcake in your avatar has made me hungry. ![]()
Sorry..... I'm unemployed now and don't have much of a life at the moment. Can't afford gas, friends are all at work or with family, blah, blah, blah. Can't help but pop over to CC for a break from job-hunting every now and then to see what's shaking.
Not to mention that us old farts are just that way. We love to dole out advice whether it's asked for or not! Give me a second and I'll find something from a reliable source on the net to quote!
Oh wait.... the original post was just a rant. Sorry. My faux paux!
The gospel according to kauf
Hopefully no one takes anything on here as gospel, except for the fact that this site is here to promote healthy and sustainable weight loss management. Everything else should be taken with a grain of salt. Buyer's beware!
Only so many people actually give a damn.

huh? so you figure that those people who ask "forum questions" don't want factual answers? why the strong objection to science and fact?
here's a tip: if you don't want answers, don't ask.
The way I lost weight and have kept it off is because of those do-gooders. They set me straight and got me on the right track. I would not have come as far as I have without the terrific, caring people on these forums.
Some of them (me) are also volunteer moderators, and part of our job is to correct any misinformation we find by stating the facts. When moderator writes, what they say can be backed up by our About.com experts and solid, reliable information sources.

ditto pg
I guess I worded this wrong, sorry! Or this was taken out of context. I just meant that you get the same people on almost every post (usually the ones who post snooty replies thinking they're witty...) saying the same thing, it was just a point out... no need to get ratty, people! Sorry if I offended anyone. Je devine que je ne suis pas dans cette clique!
PS; cptbunny.... I made the cupcakes myself, lovely lemon thingys with buttercream atop.
I also like knowing the truth :)
to Kaufmkk: I was stalking your pics and wow!!! you look great! you've come so far from your before pics! It really gives me hope! Success stories are really good motivitation!!!!!!!!! congrats!!

that wouldn't happen if people would search the forums first instead of asking the same bloody questions over and over and over (often looking for answers that are closer to what they wanted to hear, i suspect).
I agree with PG. The lounge, for example, gets very similar threads about the same things pretty often.
Today I wanted to find a good sports bra that won't let my boobs slap me in the face when doing jumping jacks. So instead of making a post, I typed sports bra in search (tons of threads came up!) and I've found *3* bras! All of them a bit expensive, but they're bookmarked for when I have the cash for one. I didn't have to make yet another "sports bra thread".
Alot of people are like "here we go again..." when they see yet another thread about the same topic that is just 3-4 pages in.
Personal questions are usually answered by people giving their honest opinion, maybe even backed up by a real source, it just may not be what the OP wanted to hear (like PG said).
I usually just add nonsense. :F
i noticed ;)

It's ok, it keeps the lounge in balance this way. ;D
Yes, I noticed that too Frok, always good for a chuckle!
Kauf, saw your pics and journals yesterday. I am dumbstuck with all you have been through and you have the best outlook on life! Plus, you have a great sense of humor too!
I mostly come to the threads for a laugh and some encouragement. I have noticed that some people do get up on a soapbox and praise their ways of weight loss, but I don't take them seriously. To each their own. If I do run across something that is questionable, I'll go search it on my own.
Hmmm, nelly1880, I think I know what you're trying to say, but I could be wrong.
You're not talking about the people who post regularly and give reasonable responses, that are actually trying to help. You're talking about the regulars who post snarky mean spirited responses, that don't help out the op at all.
If you even try to approach these members, all they'll do is find a way to defend their rudeness.
jblarghp - yes!!! Thank you.

Oh, so very true! Thanks for saying just what needed to be said!
I thought I was being chastised for posting too much, which I admittedly do more then others. BUT, I do try to stay positive and not PUSH my opinions on others. What can I say.... help me! CC has become an addiction. I need intervention!!!!
Sorry if I'm becoming a thread hog. I'm actually feeling pretty self-conscious and paranoid about making this post, but I'm going to anyway because I'M A CC ADDICT!
whatever07 and leslazz, thank you for your comments. After viewing my profile pics and reading about my battle with my weight, and more recently cancer, you can probably understand why I'm so passionate about 'lifestyle changes' vs. diets and quick fixes and why I might hop on a soap box every now and then to share what worked for me. It doesn't mean what I did will work for everyone, but I can share and hopefully provide some motivation by doing so. And by all means, correct me if I err in my comments; I'm always open for discussion or debate.
frok~, keep it up. I love the comic relief!!!
Peace.
Kauf - I wasn't directing my comment about the soapbox to you or anyone in particular (OK, maybe a liiiitttlllleee to the Massage Guy. I've come to think of his posts as "The Eat Right Nazi Guy" *giggle, giggle*) I look forward to reading you comments. I am just a newbie here (10 days) so I'm lucky if I recognize more than 5 names. IMO you are not a thread hog, you have lots of positive things to say, so keep it up!
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
