actually instead of stabbing a pen through my temple, I'm looking around CC while finishing up the last of my work day!
i popped a painkiller
*still working very hard*
YES.
With the holiday tomorrow everyone is out of the office this week. Which means I'm sitting here waiting for phone calls and emails that won't come until Monday. Its like today is Friday except extra draggy. But friday will still exist and be such a drag too. Two fridays in one week isn't fair!

not fair!
I have friday off. :)
I remember doing that. Before I actually purposely hurt myself so that I could call in sick...I quit.
I am right there with you as I loathe my job!
An 8 hour day feels like about 12 lately because we have been VERY slow. I just received a cut in pay along with everyone else so they could avoid layoffs. I would rather be laid off and collect unemployment truthfully. I'm staring at a cubicle wall and trying not to look at the clock all day. One thing that really irritates me other than the cut in pay and general atmosphere in that craphole is how IMMOBILE I am when I'm there. I prefer to be more active and will ensure that my next job (crossing fingers for a call back) will suit my needs. Being a slug all day makes me feel like a "waste of space" or something.

Please God make me a bird so I can fly far, far away from here.

ugh, you just said exactly how I feel. I'm currently injured from work but waiting for a doctor appointment, so I have to go to work and just sit there all day doing nothing. I'd rather be on disability so I can get better than being a "waste of space" sitting at a desk 8 hours a day
Isn't it FRUSTRATING?!
Huggit- I hope your injury is not too serious, but I also hope you get what you want. Isn't it sad that I would rather be laid off and you would rather be deemed disabled?! I mean seriously-- our sanity is going out the window. When thoughts like these start crossing one's mind, it's time to pursue other things! It is very rough out there in the job market though. I often wish I weren't such a slave to money so I could just get up and leave my craphole. The bills don't stop coming though so sadly, I have to suck it up until I have somewhere else to go.
Sometimes I have secretly had thoughts of wanting to be laid-off, then I scold myself and feel guilty for even thinking that way when so many people are desperate for work. What a terrible attitude I have, but I can't honestly say it hasn't crossed my mind. Then after that I think I've jinxed myself and will surely be laid-off as punishment for my terrible attitude. ![]()
Money doesn't mean a lot to me and I don't buy much, but I do really need health care benefits. That is one thing I cannot afford to lose.
I really don't think human beings were made to sit at a desk for 8 hours a day. There is something really wrong with that, and it bothers me on a very deep level.
One of my colleagues and I have a Reverse Tontine. The last one fired loses.
Wow, I guess I am in the minority, I only wish that my boss was collecting unemployment!
