Nevermind. With the rare exception of a few, there are too many posters who would rather be smarta**ses. No wonder I stopped coming here.

You cant gain weight in a deficit.  But if you do under eat - indeed your metabolism slows.  But as your metabolism slows you are no longer in a deficit.  Also - if your metabolism has slowed down enough, your body will NOT shed the weight you have.  So you can not lose weight -though it is doubtful that you will gain.

You combat it by eating enough.  Once you have a steady supply of calories coming in, you WILL begin to shed the weight you have as your body no longer needs to preserve fat stores for future deficit.

That's it!  I gained weight supernaturally.  Who'm I gonna call?  Ghostbusters!

I didn't intend on it being a joke. Thank you, madamq, for at least giving a real answer. I'm sure there are others that are silently appreciative.

Isn't there an actual diet pill called Fat Buster though? Or a plan? I swear it's real.

you're going to be very lonely if you can't get along with smart asses.

Okay, I'll put away my dematerializer for now.

I'm all over the map.  I can struggle to lose five pounds, then gain it back in a day. and then it stays on for a few days before gradually coming off again.  This usually happens when I'm in a deficit, though overall I'm losing.  It's so frustrating, especially if I've basically been eating the same thing.  I can't seem to crack the 150 line.  I just bounce around above it.

It is kind of interesting though.  Here we're fighting to lose fat, while our bodies are designed to fight to keep every ounce on.  It's a real balancing act.  One I just haven't figured out yet, which is why I try to use humour to help with the frustration.
