Far from it! I think you under ate in my opinion! Pumpkin pie is not that fattening either, the pumpkin is actually pretty healthy for you, that is what my husband tells himself since it is the only pie he loves!

i really don't see what's so wrong about eating a whole sweet potato.

It depends on how much of each thing you ate.  Did you log it all?  That would tell you for sure if it was over your calorie limit.  There is no way for anyone here to tell if you ate "too much."

And only ONE sweet potato, half a cup of cottage cheese and a few almonds for dinner?

That is a VERY SMALL dinner. MUCH LOWER in calories then A LOT OF NORMAL PEOPLE on this website.

Unless you are very, very short and small,  normal height and sized women need FAR MORE CALORIES than you are eating!

The fact you need to ask us if you think that “ one piece” of pie  is “ too much”  also signals that you have an eating disorder - or are heading towards one.

Absolutely not! Don't worry about it.

 

You dont even want to know how much i ate yesterday...you ate next to nothing compared to me.

 Orange Juice shouldn't be considered a "snack" unless you're pairing it with something else (a healthy muffin, handful of nuts, yogurt, etc).

 i am tiny im 5'2 110 pounds, thats why i ask if this is normal, i mean maybe if i weighed more i should eat more, im just trying to make sure i am eating normally, i was alright with that amount of food yesterday..and the oatmeal was with almonds an honey and fruits, so i dont see why that isnt evough for breakfast, you don't have to be a jerk about it~erica

I added up your approximate calories, and given that you're at a healthy weight (& should be maintaining, not losing weight), you definitely underate.  If you hadn't eaten the pie, you would have eaten too little even for safe weight loss. You should be eating more than this on a regular basis - a little bit of rice and a tiny piece of chicken is not an appropriate lunch.

I suggest you log for a few days. I am sure it will put your mind at ease. You definitely did not overeat.And then try to not worry so much. You are already small and fit, and your focus needs to be on proper nutrition and a healthy food relationship. Getting obsessed with it at this point could prove unhealthy, if it already isn't.

Since you are short -  your question was a genuine, normal concern -   so I am not saying there is anything wrong with you wanting to know if that amount is enough -  because you are only small, this it is a normal thing to wonder about.


You spoke about the meals you ate, and made it sounds like you thought it was a lot - for example  the way you said “ a whole sweet potato”  

Now, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG with you thinking that that is a lot of food -  but, in the future, it may be wise to NOT say that in front of other people -or at least people who you do not know well…

Cos it could offend people.

Because a lot of people do not think that your dinner was a lot of food - therefore, if you go around acting like you think it could be a lot of food -  than it could offend other people who consider it to be small or normal.

I think the issue here is that she is eating too little (when she does not need to lose weight) and is concerned that she has eaten too much.  The problem is not about "offending other people" (again - huh??) it is about her feeling guilty of barely feeding her body. 

erica, please eat more.  you don't need to lose weight.  what you had was not enough to sustain your interval training - and it is not surprising that you craved (and ate) the pumpkin pie!  your body was needing the nourishment!  please take care of yourself. 

 

I really don't understand why you guys don't invest in a electronic scale. They're not that expensive and they really improve your accuracy. Let's take oatmeal for example, which has about 4 calories per gram( uncooked): it really make a difference if it's 50g or 100g( and believe me, the eye does lie). Or your almonds and honey, which again are heavy in calories( but quite nutritional, otherwise).

That's why I suggest a scale. You could have as easily overate as underate, if you didn't measure properly and all that.

I'm not saying you should do that all the time, but when it's possible, it only takes 5 seconds.

Without scales - people tend to either under estimate or over estimate…  in the OP’S case,  I get the feeling that they may UNDER estimate -   in other words,  you assume that what you eat has more calories in it than it really does -  hence the reason you felt guilty over such a small amount of food.

And sorry - but the amount you ate is a small amount for most other people, even for most people who are your same height.

I am 5 ’ 5 and  114 - 116 lbs and eat about 3 times as much as you do to maintain my weight - I do a vigorous aerobics class 5 days a week and need about 600 calories above the  sedentary” amount.

Even when I weighed 110 lbs, I maintained that weight for a few years eating more than you do.

I am concerned about how much you eat - because I ate similar foods to you, and in similar amounts to you…………….& nbsp; When I was anorexic.

Of course, I am not implying that YOU are anorexic!  I am saying that the AMOUNT you eat worries me!

So I am surprised that you do not feel hungry, or lacking in energy.

How do you feel, Erica?   Do you have plenty of energy?   Do you feel like you could improve your energy levels?

Remember - even if you feel “ okay”   that does not mean it is okay.  What you consider to be “ okay”  could still actually be “lacking optimal energy”   optimal energy being, a good amount of energy that fuels a decent amount of activity and mental study - without you feeling to warn out.


This is probably NOT the response you were expecting!  But I read your post, and I have given you advice based on what I feel you will benefit the most from.

My advice is based my own experience with the amount of food I felt I should be eating, and also from reading about a lot of other peoples experience

So, you can either consider that the people who have commented that you are not eating a lot may be correct, or you will go on thinking you are eating enough.

The choice is up to you - good luck whatever you chose to believe!

 well i would have eaten more for lunch but thats all i could get my hands on, lol i feel ok, i don't eat like that every day on the weekend i eat more than that, i think it might be because i sit around most of the day, the only time i really get up is to excersize, and i don't like to eat unless i am hungry. one website said if i am sedentary i should eat around 1600 calories, and i think if i just eat that then a post workout snack i should be good.  and i assume my body is smarter right, won't it signal hunger if it needs food, i just don't want to eat more just to fill my recommended calories, if im not hungry i shouldnt eat right??
