Hi, I am Denise. I am 5'7, currently 220, age 27...goal weight 150! I started back on June 23rd, and today am at a loss of 53 lbs! I lost 5 lbs last week! My doc says it is VERY VERY UNHEALTHY to lose anymore than 3-5 lbs a week! Now, I am not small like you, but our bodies work the same, and what is unhealthy for me, is unhealthy for you too!! I sure would not try loosing 10lbs in a week, but if you just HAVE to, do a strict low carb diet, and it will come off fast....avoid sodium and caffeine!!!

Oh no, I would not try to lose 10 lbs in one week. I'm all for healthy eating, exercise and losing weight slowly. I was just intrigued by all the get slim quick schemes and kind of wondering who really has lost that kind of weight that fast and how.

I'd love to be down 10 by Xmas and 5 by Thanksgiving but that's about it. I'm a big fan of carb cycling, I still count calories on low carb & high carb days. That's the only thing that has ever increased the time in which I lose weight and even then it's was about a .5 increase. But sure I'll take that. Lol.

Best wishes to everyone!

I lost $500.00 one night in Vegas.

I'm 5' 1'' and currently weight around 147.  When I did WW and was around the same weight there was one week I lost five pounds.  However, my period had just ended so most of that was water weight.  Other than losing the bloat from the end my period I've never lost more than 2 lbs in any given week.

That's hysterical! So you lost your ****, right? Lmao!!

Im a big girl and last week I was 196 and today im 190 I dropped 6lbs in a week, without doing anything different than what I do now, I workout every day and eat better.  As a matter of fact Halloween night, we went out to Marie Callendars and I pigged out, took a pie home, had a slice of french apple pie WITH vanilla ice cream on top.  When I weighed in on Monday....190!! go figure. Now I know I can't get away with eating like that all the time, but it sure did feel good.

Similarly, I started off a week being incredibly bloated due to TOM and by the end had gone from 165-160. Although, the previous week I had been 163, so it was more of a rapid gain and loss rather than straightforward loss. In terms of 'fat loss', I've never lost more than about 2.5lbs in a week, which was right at the beginning of my weightloss. Its much harder now and Im happy with a lb, don't think I could lose anymore, personally, without doing something not strictly healthy!

When I was nursing and started WW I lost 10lbs my first week. When not nursing I've lost 7lbs in a week. Neither of those times were by doing anything crazy, just following my program. I think that if you aren't doing anything ridiculous to lose weight then it's okay to have high weeks. They're usually followed by low weeks, which evens it all out.

Well, I can make the number on the scale change by 10, or more, pounds in a week.  Here's how:

The first weigh-in needs to be the day before I start my period.  The day before, I need to eat a lot of salt - lots of cottage cheese, a jar of pickles, etc.  I also need to eat a LOT of carbs. The trick is to retain as much water as possible. I can probably count on gaining 2-3 pounds of water from my period, and another 2-3 from the salt + carbs, so that's 4-6 right there.

Then, 3 days before the end-of-the week weigh in, I'd cut out ALL salt and ALL carbs, and be sure to drink plenty of water.  I would then stop retaining any water. Plus, when you cut out carbs completely, you use up all the glycogen in your liver - and with every gram of glycogen, you lose something like 4g of water.  If I do this, I usually can "lose" about 4-7 pounds; that's from a normal weight, not the bloated with.

So, all told, I could gain 4-6 pounds of water weight, go back to normal, then lose 4-7 pounds of water weight, on top of an actual fat loss of say, a reasonable 1lb. So, that's a 9-14 pound change on the scale - pretty dramatic!! But only a 1lb loss of fat.

The water weight loss from carbs is how Atkins, and some other diets, show a dramatic loss in a week or two (that doesn't stay off), btw.

The most I've lost in a week was about 3lbs, but I was fairly small to begin with, and I've always been afraid of looking anorexic, so I like to take it slow.

your 39 , so your metabolism might be slowing. The biggest loser contestants lose weight by working out hard try that it might help, they lose 3-5 lbs minimum.
