My situation is a bit different. I have motivation problems and so I have been struggling with the same 10 lbs for a long time. My weight is up and then it's back down. When I do finally make it down I reward myself by wearing some of my more fitted clothes. Seeing them look good in the mirror is reward for me.
Ditto!! I just posted something exactly like that under the "exercise vs calorie intake" post. And I also agree about feeling good in your clothes being a huge reward in itself. BUT I just need something EVERY day to keep me from thinking about food, beer, wine... etc. I too am having problems getting motivated.
It seems like we also go out to dinner a lot these days for entertainment. I've just found that there is no way to cut calories while dinning out because even if you order the vegetable platter it's smothered in butter and most restaurants have very little low cal salad dressings to chose from. But that's a whole other subject in itself. Lol. (I used to work in the rest biz, so I KNOW!)
I go back to my childhood and collect stickers. When I get 50 stickers, I buy something (usually, I decide what to buy in advance; right now, it is 1-hr massage). It is simple but very effective.
Ohhh la la!!! A massage would be fabulous if I could afford it, but that's exactly the kind of answers I'm looking for. Maybe I should just enjoy a bubble bath, give myself a pedicure or rent a movie. See, now you've got my brain thinking, Angie. Good job! :)
My daily reward for doing all my chores, one of which is working out, is that I can play video games for an hour or two at the end of the night. Just a goofy rule I enforce on myself but it helps! I get my exercising done, I get to play Call of Duty for a while!
I buy myself books. I have a barnes and noble addiction.
I'm a makeup addict... there's something about a new product that makes me super happy. It's like a present everytime I spoil myself on a new item. Makeup+Carmen=Happy Girl=>> Perfect reward!
although in all seriousness I don't use 98% of the stuff I have.. I actually have 5 WHOLE BIG SHOEBOXES PACKED FULL of the stuff... I don't need anymore!!
I favor products, so I only use my favorites and store the rest... and it's always the boring neutral stuff, I only wear some mineral powder, blush brown eye shadow, mascara and sometimes some black or brown eyeliner if I have extra time... oh and chapstick!
I also like to reward myself with a new type of Nut Butter each time I go to Old Fashioned Foods... ahah bad I know, but SO GOOD!! and good for you.. if you dont eat the whole jar at once!!!
but yeah if you can find something you like thats preferably not food all the better... rewarding yourself with food can easily destroy your progress
I personally keep like points for every time i go to the gym and the points go towards something. like 10 points is i can buy something nice for a bubble bath or a manicure OR pedicure. if I have 20 points I can buy myself a mani pedi combo. like 30-50 points is a dvd and if I want a video game its 100 points. I also add in random rewards if there is something I want and its not on the list. Like if I want new clothes, or a new type of makeup. Even stuff like a movie night (popcorn and candy included but not really the focus), but that takes a LOT of points but its so worth it. I really have a long list of them i love cashing in for :) its actually fun. its almost like my personal "store" for my points. it might not keep me motivated to eat right but i know no matter what it makes me want to go to the gym to rack up on points.IT really makes me want to go to the gym! lol. I figure even if I eat crappy Im still going to the gym and honestly for me going to the gym is what sets of my better eating habits anyways. I dunno if this helped any for you but thats my system
I hope it gives you some ideas.
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
