Few people genuinely have a permanently slow metabolism because it's quite difficult to achieve. Your thyroid test is normal and so you'd expect your metabolism to be normal as well.
What speeds up metabolism
- Eating regularly... not skipping meals
- Eating the right amount to lose weight.... average 700 cal deficit between the calories you take in and the ones you use up.
- Taking regular exercise..... daily rather than sporadically
- Being well-hydrated
As you seem to be someone that only has to lose 5lbs, it's more than likely that your difficulty in losing weight is because you're already a healthy weight. You have to be very accurate about your food intake and conscientious about exercise if you're to see any progress..... If you're not losing it's very probably because you're simply 'eating too much'. Good luck
Thanks, all good info. I wish I only had 5 lbs to lose. Lol. I've gained 15 lbs just since June because of stress, depression etc. I just haven't updated my profile because it makes me sick to think about it. I do eat small healthy snacks often and drink enough water to float a river. I have tried most of what you mentioned but I'll just keep trying. I do believe presistance pays off. I'm just extremly frustrated. I'm hungry and irritable all the time, burned out on doing an hour of cradio 5 days per week, sweating like a pig with no results but I'll keep on keeping on. :(
