Where are you from?

Hi -- I just joined Carlorie Count a few days ago, and I'm finding it to be a great tool for keeping myself on track.  I've really enjoyed the forum discussions and I think they're a great motivator.

One thing that I'm curious about is where everybody is from!  I get the feeling that there are a lot of UK members here, because I see terminology that I believe is British (ex. loo, fizzy drinks)...am I right? 

I'm from Rochester, New York, which is a city of about 350,000 in upstate New York, right on Lake Ontario...across the lake from Canada.  I love to travel and have been to the UK (Blackpool) and also to Italy, France, and Spain on a Mediterranean cruise.

was born and raised in corn and soybean land in a smallish Illinois town (approx 50k) called Normal. Have spent the last 29 years in Houston TX population - for the metro area 5.9 million. I do my travel in books!

I grew up in the Suburbs of Philadelphia, went to college in Western Pennsylvania and now I live in Sacramento, California the capital of the bankrupt state :)

 From Kansas to Kuwait....it sounds like a novel!  I'd like to hear more about that,  nasimakhan.

I was born in Graham, TX, adopted the day I was born and brought to Ft.Worth in a Packard - 109 degrees and no air conditioning.  No wonder I like hot weather!  LOL    I've lived in FL and MO also, but home is Texas.

From hot to really cold.  I'm from a tiny town in central Minnesota called Spicer (pop 1200, yeah that's right, our town didn't even have a stop light until I was in college!!)  It gets so cold here that the governor has cancelled school statewide.  I went to college in Fargo, North Dakota where it actually was colder than Antarctica for a couple days one winter.  Granted it was summer in Antarctica at the time, it was still freezing!

Born in LA, lived in Houma, Louisiana for a bit as a kid and then a teenager then back to LA with some time in Northern California (Redwoods in my front garden - woohoo) and then over to London where I've been for nearly ten years now. 

I'm from Denmark, (Europe) But Living in Stockholm, Sweden now.

Jannid, I'm from Effingham, IL! I know Normal very well...my aunt lives there and teaches at Illinois University. I now live in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico right on the US/Mexican border and cross the border five days per week for work.

originally from florida, currently i live in detroit, michigan (aka "the angry mitten")

Born and raised in New Bedford, Massachussettes.  Been living in the Seattle area for the last 13 years.  I miss the hot summers but not the cold winters, lol.  Seattle is pretty tempid year round.  40's in winter and high 70's in summer for the most part.
