I am so furiously angry right now!

I don't freakin get it....

Recently...I started working out again. Pilates and weights. And eating healthier

How the....(insert LOTS of swearwords here) could I be up like FIVE POUNDS?

If fat were a person I'd be beating them up.

How do you know it's fat? Do you weight every day?

Could be fat, water or muscle. Did you do measurements?

Over the Holidays I gained 4.5 pounds and lost a half inch on my waist, go fugure.
Well...it could be a muscle mass gain as muscle weighs more than fat.  Are your clothes fitting looser or tighter?  How is your water intake?  Don't get discouraged!  There's alot of support on this site!
I know I know I know.

It's just...

I've been doing this for a year now. It's getting so tiring. I do what I'm supposed to do and I gain weight. It drives me nuts. I just want to get out of this "diet" frame of mind because it really affects my eating disorder issues.

I wanna be the weight I want so I can...get on with my life. You know?
You may be gaining muscle mass from the weight training which can have the effect of minimizing you weight loss or causing gain, but they say it's cumulative effect is weight loss. For example, when I started weight training three times a week (this was a few years ago). I did it with a trainer so we did all the caliber, BMI, etc. measurements and after one month I lost about 10lbs. but gained apprx. 5lbs. in muscle mass, therefore the scale only registered a 5lb. weight loss, but my BMI went from 25 to 21 in one month! Try not to get discouraged and maintain your new, healthier habits, it will pay off in the end.
Its so easy to get frustrated with the numbers and not see the big picture.   I get caught in the desire to see the numbers go down too but I try to stay objective and not beat myself up too bad.

Maybe you need to increase your exercise or incorporate some vitamins or supplements to enhance your diet.  How is your diet anyway?  You mention an ED, that might factor in on the discouragement (duh, I know...)
Quit weighing and start measuring. I never step on the scale. You KNOW when you lose weight -- don't need the scale. I wouldn't worry about five pounds -- I'm sure it's muscle weight as others have said.
I just started exercising seriously and after 5 days was up 3 pounds.

Huh?

But I didn't worry about it.... Exercise is good.  New muscle is good. Water weight will sort itself out....

This morning I was back down 2 of them.  :)
I'm a vegetarian, and I take a multivitamin, omega 3 capsule, and biotin. I try to eat around 1200 calories but usually end up around 1400. I've struggled with both starving myself and overeating and throwing up. I know I am capable of doing this in a healthy way, it just gets sooo frustrating. And I know I'm more sensitive about food...when I get frustrated or angry I eat. So it's this horrible catch 22. Only six months until summer! :) Gotta do it.
Have you analysed your calorie intake lately?  Sometimes if you burn too many calories it puts you in this cycle or plateaus the heck out of you - I have heard that burning more than 800 calories a day can be counterproductive - you might want to look at your exercise routine and shake it up a bit and confuse your body into dropping pounds - also look at your percentages - maybe your eating the right amount of the wrong thing!!  Try to get that 50 Carb, 30 Protein, 20 Fat thing going so that your food turns into the most optimum fuel it can be.

Just play around a bit with things and see what happens!  Remember that variety is the spice of life!!  If you have gotten into a rut by doing the same old same old for too long - your body becomes more and more efficient and stores fat and calories!!

Visualization of you kicking the butt off a guy named Fat probably woudn't hurt either!!  LOL
My intuition tells me you're gaining muscle, not gaining fat.  Take the weekend off of the scale and see what Monday brings.

I found a thread in the weight loss fourm that was talking about eating more to loose weight.  Take a look at it, it helped me feel better about my own plateau and it might help you, too.
How long ago did you start the weights? Your muscles could just be pumped up -) Give it a bit of time for your body to settle down.
Sis gained about 2 lbs after working out for about 1 month. But push on, through holidays etc, she came back weighed, and actually lost 2lbs from original weight! Tht is 2 she gained in the beginning (muscles) and 2 more (fat). She looks trimmer then when she left for holiday.

I gained about 5 lbs myself from working out. But my clothes fit better than ever.

Instead of worrying about weight ONLY, include Body Fat % into equation. Don't loose heart. ^_^
wetdogsmell,  you have to stick with it.  Roxanned is right.  Look at your calorie intake.  If your exercising is burning (for instance) 400 calories and you are only eating 1200, then you are actually not eating enough.  I know it's strange, but it's true.

Let me say that I understand your pain.  I come from disordered eating as well.  It was so increadibly hard for me to get my calories up above 1200 and I did see an initial weight gain.  1400 was not enough for me either because of the amount of exercise I do.  I had to bump it up to 1600 and stay away from the scales for about a month until my metabolism stabilized.....THEN when my body finally got the hint that I was not going to starve it anymore, I started to lose again.  It is a slow and frustrating process but it IS possible.  I am proof.
