Is It Okay?
I dont know if this goes over here, but I was wondering if it's okay to have a binging day once a week? Or is it most likely to be once a month?

We are all human and therefore we all have weaknesses. A bing day is inevitable otherwise you would not be here looking to lose weight. What you will find here is support when you have those weak moments. Accept the fact that for now you will have those days and hopefully in time they will not be as often with our support. Good Luck!
The trick is to work the special treats into your meal plans by planning ahead. If you love ice cream, for instance, you can work in a 200 calorie, half cup serving of light ice cream for dessert or a snack.
The real trick is, to not allow yourself to become so deprived feeling that you go overboard and eat the entire pint of ice cream!
Also, cravings tend to go away if you are well nourished, so pay attention to what you eat, not just how much.

I'm maintaining weight and have one binge day a week - mostly on the weekend!! it hasn't effected my weight yet but we are all different so i woudl hate to comment! never go to over board but what is the harm in allowing the one thing you love the most once a week - i think its a positive thing!! knowing i can have something on the weekend, stops me from over eating in the week!
Not sure I agree. I think if you have decided you are going to binge once a week, that you have not got over your old eating habits. I think binging once in awhile is ok but when you plan this once a week, this will get you in trouble. I've been dieting since Jan. 1st and had some binging days, but thought nothing of it as I continued with my diet the next days, those days were maybe once every three weeks and unplanned due to being invited out to dinner or something unavoidable and nothing else to eat.
Agreed. Planning a binge is a terrible idea. You should not be in the mindset that the only way you can survive eating healthy is if you have a binge day. Even on "binge days" I don't binge, just eat something I normally don't eat, and I still fit it into my daily intake.
I would add that when I have a day I feel like I haven't had enough to eat - I will eat an extra yogurt - or fill up on something I can have which fits in my diet - this may take me 200 - 300 over my calorie range - but I know I have eaten the right thing and it that normally does not add the pounds.
I would take a look at what you are eating and reevaluate. You shouldn't be starving yourself - trust me - I tried 3 times in the past 10 years and failed each time. This time is different. I no longer feel like I have to binge, sure - you have those days where you feel like you are starving - but they are far and few between if you are eating the right foods. I am not sure what works for everyone else. I know that I eat the lo-cal frozen dinners, yogurt, fruit, and breakfast each day. My breakfast is normally grape nuts flakes w/ bananas or strawberries - and always skim milk. You must eat breakfast I think I learned is number one. If you work, bring yogurt and maybe a low-cal granola bar or something healthy with you to snack on. At lunch and dinner both you can have another lo-cal dinner - with the lower calories in them - you can even have 4 of them a day - why starve? My favorite is Lean Cuisine but there are a number of them out there - where I live there is Michelina's Lean Gourmet - only $1.06 each here.
I stress again the number 1 is to eat healthy and spread out your food so you have something at least every couple of hours. It may take a bit getting used to - but you will get used to eating a new way - and those binge cravings will stop if you give it a chance. Remember - YOU are in control.
Good luck and I hope we all attain our goals in here - this site is great!

It also depends on your definition of a "binge day" - is this clearing the refrigerator & cabinets or just eating an extra 3 or 4 hundred calories in a day?
