Where do I fit

Quote  |  Reply
OKay, for days I've been trying to figure out if I fit into Light activity or moderate activity.  For the life of me I can not figure it out, I don't know why it's bothering me so badly.  Okay, here's the run down...

I am a stay at home mother of three, ages 7, 3 and 11 months.  I don't seem to sit down much, if only to check this board, lol, and check email or feed the baby.  However, at naptime in the afternoon, I do enjoy a full two hours of sitting on my butt, or napping (which is needed because my 11 month old was a preemie and needs health attention in the middle of the night).  Generally, everyday there is light housekeeping, and kindo slow playing with my three year old (walking after him while he tries to figure out his scooter and things like that).  Generally my 7 year old is at some sort of activity, but when home, there is bike riding, and kicking around a soccer ball to be done.  but I don't feel like anything I do is fast enough to be considered "moderate"?  Now starting tomorrow, when the 7 year old returns from boy scout camp, we are going to start Yoga in the am (he wants to do this), and Billy Blanks cds in the evening (his grandfather has really bad diabetes, so he wants to do things to make sure that he doesn't get that, so he wants to stay as healthy as possible, and in turn, making me be more healthy, gotta love him).  So maybe then I can bump it up to moderate????

I don't know why this is so hard for me.

personal question that will help determine -- do you formula feed or nurse??
i would definetly go with moderate. it sounds like u are doing too much to be in the light category.
I'd keep it at light activity for now.  How long have you been keeping track of your calories?
I formula feed, I wish I could breast feed, oh well, can't burn those calories breast feeding.

I have been keeping track of my calories for about a week now (seriously keeping track, I didn't take it seriously before).

Probably moderate is the way to go, I don't know.

Thanks Abby
I would start with light activity.  Moderate activity (I believe) refers to someone that has a job that requires them to be physicall active all day.  I'm not saying that being a busy SAHM doesn't seem like a job sometimes, I just question whether you get a high enough level of activity.  Since it's only been a week, why not start out at light and see how that works for you?  If you feel underfed, you may want to bump it up a little.
