I am 5'5''
I was 246 in May of 2007
Now i am 143
also,i have another question... i don't want People to respond to my question with ohh your not fat
but why am i still fat when some of my friends who weigh as much as me & same height they look fine while im still fat?
I have that too, though, where I don't think I look any different. But, when I really think about it, I've realized that I don't really remember how I used to look when I would look in the mirror, for the most part. The ONLY time I can tell I've lost a little weight is when I look through my REALLY old pictures.
When I look in the mirror now, I still see my same old face and body though..I hate mirrors sometimes =\
But yeah...you look awesome!
first off, congrats on losing 100lbs
second - i just looked at your profile pic and you can TOTALLY see a difference - you look amazing!!!
Oh, it's noticeable alright!
Looking at your June (or July?) 2007 pic vs. your Dec. pic, WOW! You've done a great job!!
It's just not noticeable to *you* because you've watched the slow progression of it every day. If you'd not looked in the mirror for 6 months while you were losing, when you finally did look you'd check to make sure it was really you and not someone else standing on the other side of a window ;-)
Give your brain time to adjust to the new you and over time you will begin to really see you.
Congrats!!
you look very different now - i would barely recognize the new you
and you look adorable!
but why am i still fat when some of my friends who weigh as much as me & same height they look fine while im still fat?
Amanda,
Question, how did you lose the weight? Diet and exercise?
Also, I can totally relate to losing a LOT of weight and still having issues w/ thinking I am fat. Lots of it is in my head!! Maybe you still see yourself 100 lbs ago?
PS> You look fabulous btw!

can't help it..... you aren't fat...
maybe you're seeing yourself pre-weight loss.. be proud of the fact that you've lost so much weight... and perhaps the Health and Support section would be a great place for you if you aren't able to see the new you
I just looked at your pictures and you have to be kidding! You look like a totally different person. You were always a pretty girls but honey, you have lost A LOT of weight and it would be evident to anyone.
Congratulations on such an accomplishment!
Could be a couple reasons for you feeling that way....
First, you really aren't seeing you the way you really are. Try on a pair of your friend's pants that is the same height and weight as you. If you think they (your friends) look good and then you can wear the same clothes, then you can no longer consider yourself "fat".
Secondly, your friend(s) may be more muscular than you are currently. I'm not going to get into that whole muscle v. fat weight thing, but it's true. I hover between 138/140 right now and for my height that should be a perfect weight, however, I'm just not muscular. Another person my exact height could weigh 20 pounds more than me, but be in jeans 3 sizes smaller just due to their muscle content.
Third, it's only been, what? 8 months since you started this? Give your body and brain time to catch up with the new you. The longer you are at your current weight, the better it will look on you as your body has time to readjust everything in and on you. Everything really does re-distribute itself as time goes on.
So, no, you're not still fat. Pat yourself on the back for a tough journey taken and conquered. Appreciate yourself :-)
You look AMAZING!! seriously you should be so proud of yourself. If you aren't happy with the way you look just yet maybe you need to work out a bit more to tone up or something. I think you look very skinny though!
It could be a mental thing too. i have seen many posts about girls who loose a lot of weight and still feel like a bigger girl. you might want to talk to someone it might just be a confidence issue
How did you loose all that weight? I have to tell you i have been feeling very down on myself today, feeling like i cant really loose the weight i want and you totally inspired me...so thank you!
Let me guess, you still see your "rolls" in your tummy and sides, you still see the front butt in your lower abs, you feel like your legs are wobly, your arms don't look like your friends arms???
Like previous posters have said, losing that much weight will take some getting used to. While you are getting used to it, keep up your exercises and your legs will slowly be less wobly, your front butt will gradually tighten up, etc. I second the suggestion about trying on a friend's piece of clothing. It should be a huge confidence booster!!!
I've lost just under your amount...92 pounds...and I still see the same rolls, the same flab, but sort of deflated. I know more exercise will tighten some of it up and it'll be less of a problem and I am constantly telling myself that I am no longer as big as I was and I keep looking at that mirror trying to get my head wrapped around it. You're head will get there. If you have too hard of a time getting your head wrapped around your new body you might want to try talking with a school counselor about it.
Why you may conceive yourself as being "fatter" than friends is because you've got completely different genetics, you will carry your weight in different places, you will store weight differently and your bone structure will be different.

I guess you would need to post a picture of you and these friends (with permission) for anyone on this site to give you an honest answer if you look fat compared to them; however, it could just be body toning that you need now to make yourself look skinnier or better fitting clothes.
My first impression is that you do not look fat. Like it or not that is what I see. I have the same problem, I was looking in the mirror and cannot see were the weight came off; however, I saw a recent picture of myself and then I noticed the difference.
Try not to be too hard on your self. It appears to be human nature to see ourselves in a worse light then we see others. I would be willing to bet your friends are thinking that they look fat compared to you now.

I think maybe you are mistaking "fat" for un-toned? Like you I have lost over 100 lbs (146 lbs so far) and still see and feel "fat". But I think your question may refer more to others your height and weight who are toned. Muscle weighs more then fat, so while you may be the same height and weight as another person, if they have more muscle then you, they maybe "smaller" but the scales show no difference. Now that you are down, its time to tone and yes, this may result in you "gaining" lbs on the scale. To help this, take measurements and keep a record. When the scale changes check your measurements and you may be surprised. Its time to tone up, muscle train and get "smaller" but not necessarily lose weight. Congrats on coming this far. Keep up the great work, tone up and good luck! You look amazing!! (You may not see it, but those around you do!)
Obviously you're fishing, but okay, I'll bite:
It is very noticeable, and you look like a whole different person from last summer. Congrats on your achievement!
You're not fat, but you're not quite slim yet either. I can't comment on your friends because we all carry weight differently. Very few women would look thin at 5'5" and 143. It's not a bad weight, but the ideal for that height would be around 120. You've made it most of the way there. You look great and you must feel better, right?
The last pounds are always the hardest - I'm in my last 20 lbs too, and feel impatient, too.
There's a difference between being: Fat, obese, overweight, and a bit lacking in tone.
I'd say you need to remember this; you're not 'fat'; not 'obese' maybe a few pounds overweight, and need some toning.
With that said: In 12 weeks or less, you can tone and get rid of a few pounds. So, the answer is ADD 12 weeks to your program to FOCUS on 'finishing it up', so you feel good. Diane
