ahh im sooo frustrated.

i started losing weight @ beginning of nov. at 150 lbs. and i'm 5'6"

on sunday after i worked out i weighed myself and it came to 137.8...then that night (the super bowl) i sorta binged--the first time ive binged in a longgg time.  a couple days later i weighed myself and it said 139..and it wont budge!!!

idk what to do...according to cc, most of the time i have a calorie deficit of 500-700.  why am i not losing weight anymore!?! ?!!!!!!!!

sounds like you are right on track!!! your scale is not going to read perfect every time. you need to give yourself a 5# range.

besides, is your cup 1/2 empty or 1/2 full?

you already forgot the other 11# you lost!!! :  ) Give yourself credit for keeping that off...
One thing that has realllly helped me not be frustrated is only weighing myself once a week. It's hard at first, but you will be much happier each time you step on the scale and see better results than if you weighed yourself every couple days.
Just keep up the good work.  Slip ups happen and our bodies don't always do what we want it to do.  I'm sure it'll start to decline in no time, just be patient.

Oh and your definitely not the only one who over-indulged on superbowl sunday! :-)

I don't see that you are doing anything wrong.  Like sharon said, you have already lost 11 lbs.  Don't forget about them!

If losing weight were as easy as cutting calories and watching the scales go down until you hit the weight you are working towards, there wouldn't be so many people who try to lose then quit before they reach their goal.  It is when we stall or gain a pound or two back again that we get frustrated.

Did you actually binge or did you just eat like you used to before CC?  Not that it really matters but I have heard the word "binge" used a lot here and often it isn't really a binge but just slipping back into old habits.  Easy enough to do.

You have stalled for the moment.  There could be many different reasons.  Maybe you have added muscle weight and lost fat weight.  Maybe it is just one of those stalls that happens for what seems to be no reason.  Maybe your period is due and it is water retention or maybe it is water retention for some other reason.

Your weight loss may slow down a bit because you weigh less than you did before.

You are learning how to eat healthy.  As long as you keep that up, you will eventually start losing again.

ah thanks you guys..haha youre all right of course.  i've just never everr had to worry about what i eat and now that i do..its extra hard and i have alot of questions =)

thanks for the reassurance!

Hopefully not too personal of a question- but may be the answer- maybe you are retaining water?  I don't know your cycle but for my TOM I usually gain a few pounds but then it goes away after the big P has started....

Jen has a point ( one as a guy I usually try to avoid..but it's a fact of life ); however, if you are dehydrated at all, your body will cause a similar flight/fight reaction as with a caloric deficit: retain water. Stay hydrated and limit your sodium intake to ensure the body rids itself of waste and water weight ( fat stored in muscle and fat ).  I would say that a difference in weight in that short period of time is probably water retention.

hmm well i hope so..but my TOM isn't for another week and a half...? and i dont eat alot of salt! so idk what other things would be causing water retention...cuz i drink at least 3 water bottles/day
One more thing I forgot to mention. To get the most consistently accurate weigh-ins, do it at the same time every day. You may already be doing this, but I thought it couldn't hurt to add :). I weigh myself in the morning after I go to the bathroom but before I eat.

Before I switched from pre-med to something a bit more suited to my intelligence, I took a class in which we got off on a tangent about this subject ( I didn't, but the ladies in the class did..I just sat there bewildered ). As the professor so kindly pointed out: it's not uncommon for woment to gain several pounds ( anywhere from 2-10, depending on their level of activity ) of water weight a week or more before their cycle begins. I'm just throwing my two cents in, so hopefully someone with more knowledge can abate your fears a little more. Good luck, and try not to sweat small gains.

I don't know what your goal weight is, but I would say you're not too far off...that the 139 is pretty healthy (being 5'7", I know that when I weigh around 142 or so, I feel healthy). So your body might like this weight and you'll plateau there for a while. The rest will come off..but as you get closer to your goal weight, it gets tougher, usually.

yea that makes sense...well i figured nothing bad could happen if i continue to eat right and workout and stuff..! so we'll see what happens i guess =) thanks for everyone's help!!!
It is nice to see someone else freaking out about pounds! I gained 3 after my Super-Bowl eating. I bloat almost two weeks before my TOM and it is so frustrating! One beer, even a light one during those two weeks makes me gain 2-3 pounds! So, not only am I bitchy because my scale is telling me I gained weight but the hormones on top of that...my poor husband!
hahah aww yea me too! i mean i figure the super bowl only comes once a year..! but yes.. i bloat a couple weeks b4 my TOM too.. VERY frustrating! =/

Gale Bernhardt, who wrote, "The Female Cyclist" noted that if you cut calories too much, especially when exercising regularly, in women it may cause the metabolism to slow down, and weight loss to plateau.  So, sometimes when this happens to me, I increase my caloric intake slightly, until the weight loss kicks in again. Just something to try if nothing else seems to work.
ahh yea good point...i'll keep that in mind!
