is this ok?

Quote  |  Reply
I love to eat during the evening. In order to compensate, I will have a 200 calorie breakfast, a 200 calorie lunch, and about 200 calories in snacks before dinner. this leaves me with about 1200 calories for dinner and snacks afterwards. i will usually have about a 400 calorie dinner and snack all night long (about 800 cals in snacks).

i was just wondering if this is ok. also, when i'm snacking at night, it will be very random. 1/4 cup of cereal, 1/2 tbsp of peanut butter, some popcorn, a couple grapes, a few crackers, etc... and this just continues until i go to bed!

any thoughts?

thanks everyone!

I kind of do the same thing. Eat a 200 cal breakfast, have a slightly bigger lunch and save at least 1000 cal for dinner and snacks in the evening. I seems to work for me I am steadily loosing 0.5 kg per week by keeping the daily intake at about 1600 cal. I also read it doesn't matter when you eat the calories.

thanks for your reply! i just hope i'm not going OVER my calories by doing this mindless snacking. it's all really small bites, but i'm sure it adds up! does anyone else do this?
Well I snack all day, but that is what my nutritionist suggested for me. I eat like every 2 hours and I have small random things! I usually have a decent sized bfast, snacks all day and then dinner and snacks til like 1am while I study...

I think you are definitely fine! No worries...this actually can be good for your metabolism!
Its not bad exactly... and it should not affect your weight loss. the only problem is that you are consuming energy when you n't need it which can, in my experience, cause difficulty sleeping and then tiredness during the day. if you could maybe increase breakfast, lunch and dinner each by 100 calories, you might have more energy and you still have 500 for snacks.
thanks for your replies! hockeygirl, that is a great suggestion. i do find myself a little sluggish during the day (probably because, like you said, i should consume more energy during the beginning of the day). i will try your suggestion!

positivelinny: other people have told me that it's good for your metabolism as well! thanks for your reply! :)

love you all

As long as you're feeling fine, then I don't see any reason to be concerned.  If adding a 100 calories to your meals and snacks during the day gives you more energy then it's worth doing.

I love snacking on an evening, so I have my 3 main meals during the day and snacks on an evening.  I think it's good to plan like that, then hopefully you can avoid any binging on a night and the calories you have are in your allowance.

Hi nwoodrum-After reading you post I looked at your gallery pictures and I was wondering how you went from 135 (may 2007) to 110 (Aug 2007) in just 3 months? I'm around 135 now and would love to get to 115 in a few months. Any advice?  Thanks~

idgystripes, this site is not to promote unhealthy habits and extreme dieting...nwoodrum is a strong person who has dealt with a lot...if you would like to comment on her post then that would be great. if you would like to message me then that would be fine.

oops, I guess I said something wrong...sorry.
