HI, I had the following for lunch- how many calories do you think it would be?
1 cup chicken in black bean sauce
1 bowl chicken corn soup
0.5 bowl steamed rice
less than half a bowl of chicken thai green curry
Maybe the best bet is for you to look up in the database the ingredients of your meal and add it up.
ughh thats so time consuming...any ballpark figure? maybe 600 calories?

sully, that's way off - closer to 536.8453... i think you let the "less than half a bowl of chicken thai green curry" throw you off - you assumed that the bowl was 1cup, but really it is 1.2 cups, so less than half a bowl would be....

Chicken Thai Green, when consumed within 18 hours of Black Bean Sauce, is deadly poisonous! Sadly, dialing emergency is, "ughh, so time consuming", so I'm just going to have to let you perish.

wow!! i'm sorry guys i didnt mean for you to do my work neither was I being lazy- I just wanted a ballpark figure since i couldnt find chicken in black bean sauce anywhere- I apologize for asking for some help- and when i said its time consuming i meant it was time consuming to put in every ingredient of the dishes not the dishes themselves.
I definitely did not mean for you guys to do it for me! Just a "i think it should be between 500-600 calories" would have sufficed!
Plus, though I have been a member for a while I havent used this site much and that's why maybe I couldnt find everything as easily as all of you, but forgive me i did not know i had to justify asking for some help.

anywayz i think about 600-700 cals, around there...im not really familiar with how to use the site either so i understand where your coming from

the chicken was probably thigh meat (the highest in cals), the chicken corn soup usually has flour and cornstarch in it, half a cup of rice is b/w 100-150 cals and thai green curry has coconut milk in it (the worst!) so i would assume what you ate was b/w 600- 800 cals..and the sodium through the roof!
its ok.... i was forced to eat popeyes fried chicken today!

Anyway cherinow, just type in the list in the search box usually at the top of the page and you will get plenty of entries coming up for the things you've had. Add it to your list and estimate the amounts it may have been.
I usually find something that will be more or less the same - normally stuff that you can buy from supermarket chains (in the UK things like Sainsbury's, Tesco's, Asda etc). Try to estimate the weight of what I had and work it out from there.
I'm getting good at estimate weights of things now. I do actually weigh stuff on a scale but mostly its estimates. I tend to overestimate a little just in case.
For example calories in Chicken in black bean sauce from Tesco's is 387 kcal for a pack of 450g. I think thats probably 2 cup fulls there (or maybe more). If it were me I'd simply halve the calories and add it to my log. I would then do the same and estimate how much I had with each item. It takes a little time but its worth it because then you get an idea of how many calories you have had.
Often I've been surprised by the result - its sometimes a lot lower then I think it is.

I know what she means..you sometimes eat stuff and you're not really sure what that counts as cuz u can't find it in the directory for some reason...and I'm sure she jusyt thought some people here are prolly more used to the calories counting stuff and could have a reasonable estimate!
