Calorie Count

Hello all,

My name is Vera and i am 32 years, i weighed 254 as at January 2012, that was when i said enough, so i started working out and counting my calories and though its been two months i have been able to loose close to 12 lbs, i still can't see any change in me but i have been told i will see change when am down 20-25 lbs, so i am hanging in there, what drives me up is motivation and knowing that people like me have been at where i am and have been able to change their situation, and through that they have become better. I would appreciate motivation coming from everyone so that i can stay on this forum to achieve my goal which is 170 lbs.

Thanks everyone.

Hey Vera,

I think you are doing awesome.  You know what 12lbs is great and you gotta think we are our worst critics.  Sometimes our eyes plays tricks on us because we can't see what is really happening.  So let me open your mind.  Your are 12lbs closer to a longer life, you are 12lbs closer to living a healthier life, you are 12lbs closer to living a happier life.  You have made a choice that some aren't willing or afraid to make which makes you 12lbs smarter, 12lbs stronger and 12lbs I AIN'T TAKEN THIS !@#$ NO MORE!

Next time you look in the mirror think of those things and you will see the change.

12lbs is excellent!! Give yourself the credit due.  I am 35 and I've been here with CC since 3/2011.  I am a yo-yo dieter and fail miserably periodically.  None the less, I always come back to fight another round.  I am 5'8 and I fluctuate between 180 and 190.  Its the end of another crazy school semester and here I am with 12 new lbs to battle.  I am up to 187 from 175 in January. My ideal weight is 160.  Thank God for my height that tends to camouflage my chunkiness. I have a crazy work and school schedule and a 4 hr per day commute to and from work.  I sleep about 5 hrs a night and tend to stress out and night binge.

I do have a great gym membership, but when I skip the gym for a long time, I always feel that when I finally show back up the regulars are staring and judging me.  Its that time of the year again and I am trying to focus.  No more time for excuses.  Time to put my I Pod on and ignore the gym snobs Cool

Best of luck to you

I'm in almost the same boat, started Jan as 250 which pushed me into taking hold of this and getting committed to the gym.  I'm sitting at 235 right now.  And after reading all these replies I'm feeling a lot better about myself and my weight loss.  Thanks guys.

As far as motivation goes for me Cross Fit has really helped.  I'm totally not in shape to take part in a Cross Fit gym yet, but I'm working towards it.  I watch videos and dream of the day when I can join in.

Keep up the great work and thanks again for the motivation.

3 DIY Tortilla Tricks
I love Mexican food—tacos with crispy shells, crunchy taco bowls and salty tortilla chips. But I could do without the extra calories, fat and sodium in the salty, often deep-fried tortillas served at many restaurants or the less-than-healthy packaged versions of these foods sold in the supermarket.
