So...now what?

Quote  |  Reply

So I'm done! Yay!

I'm happy with the amount of muscle I've built, and am now looking to shed a couple of vanity pounds while maintaining as much of that muscle as possible. Any ideas? Seriously. I don't know what to do. Embarassed

I liked having a structured program for weights because it has always been harder for me to work that in. It seems overwhelming without it all laid out.

Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations!

I think more than a few of us went directly into NROL when we finished but I went out and found one of Melkor's posts about strength training programs:  Link.  It's post #4.

Thank you for posting that thread, it is really helpful. I might try -GULP- real fast fat loss. Looks scary. And possibly like I could injure myself. But I like the compound movements.

How is NROL different from NROLFW?

Congrats on finishing!!  If you decide to do RFFL, let us know how it goes!

Hm, ignore that extremely ignorant question.

I find it harder.  The fat loss programs seem like stage 7, but worse.  The HYP I program that I am doing now is hard too.  It is 5 sets of 5 or 4 sets of 10 or 3 sets of 15..... but the way the workout is put together is hard!

The lower body day is squats, deads, bulg split squats(dreaded) and step ups.... what fun.  I am soooo sore today!

I was going to try RFFL, but it does look intimidating. Especially "squat jump to chin with knee tuck". I'm not sure I can do that. Yet alone 3x15 times...

Let me know how it goes if you do decide to start it. I still have 5 more workouts in stage 7, then I was going to do stage 6 again, and then RFFL. So it's probably going to be 3rd/4th week of July.

Yep. Not sure I can do that one at all, but I think I'll try! I'm thinking about starting tomorrow. I'll keep you updated on how it goes!

RFFL: Not so bad! I think Stage 7 helped prepare me with the short rests. I also needed to use lower weight before so I could get the form down. We'll see when I up the weight.

Hmmm, I've finished the NROL Fat Loss I (plus a couple of extra workouts at the end to fill in before my vacation.

Got back from vacation on Monday, but DH doesn't return to work until next Monday, and is still in "kick-back" mode.  I'm having trouble getting motivated to get back into my workouts. But really that's just about getting in there and doing it.

What I'm really being indecisive about is which NROL program to do next?  I know that I can lose fat doing any of them as long as my calories are right (which I need to work on), but I just can't decide.... I want to lose fat, but I also want to get stronger, and hypertrophy is also good, especially since I know I won't really build any muscle while in a deficit.

Bah..... I almost liked NROLFW better because it just *told* you what order to them in.

How about flipping a coin? ;) Or a draw (since you've got more than two options).

Have you read through all of them? I think if I had to decide, I'd go with the one with the most interesting exercises.
