Why?
Why are you quitting? This may be the most important step in actually not lighting up again. Explore your reasons -- share with us. They don't have to be altruistic -- whatever works(ed) for you is really all that matters.
I quit because it became too expensive to smoke. When I started smoking I could get packs for 30-50 cents in the States, 25-50cents in Australia (I remember searching for pennies to be able to buy a pack -- while still in school). I quit when they went up to $2.75 US -- apparently that was my breaking point.
The point is -- you have to find a reason to quit, otherwise it usually won't work
I'm quitting because smoking is seriously unhealthy. My morning breathing is getting slightly more difficult; My husband hates it and will not talk to me while I smoke; I irritate friends by bumming smokes all the time; It costs to darn much; I want to be heathly when I get pregnant; the cigarette ban in bars will make me homicidal if I don't quit now;
Reason's I haven't quit yet: I like it. I'm addicted. I'm lazy. I hang out too much with other smokers. I have too many drinks that seem to require a cigarette.
