Do the Dietitians in the paid service advise on FODMAPS diet?

Quote  |  Reply

I posted a longer more detailed request for general support over in the Health section, but the short version is, after hunting around for the reasons I developed some serious pain in my stomach about 4 months ago, I've been diagnosed with mild Crohn's disease, and the gastroenterologist has prescribed the FODMAPS diet, along with some medications, to begin getting this all under control.

Although i've purchased a book, putting this into effect seems complex, and difficult to manage while still hitting all my targets here at Calorie count. I may have to customize the goals, I suppose, but I'm wondering if the registered dietitians here are familiar with the FODMAPS program. If so, and if I could be sure that the person assigned to me was FODMAPS proficient, I would seriously want to consider signing up for the premium service....

Thanks....

Hi Jeanni - I know how difficult it can be to navigate the FODMAPs diet and while yes, our dietitians know about it, I would recommend you also see someone in person to optimize your understanding!

Thanks Rachel,

I was looking locally and there's only one FODMAPS dietitian I can find in my entire state... luckily she happens to practice near where I work! wow... how's that for fortuitous.  I'm going to make an appointment, I think, but I'm also going to attempt to log what I'm eating now -- just had my first FODMAPS official meal... and see how I can make it work with the nutritional goals here, which I think are very healthy ones... they were working for me before I got all derailed by this... I'm determined to get a handle on things... so I'm going to survey all my options and try to choose the combination of things that seems to hit all the bases.

Thanks for the forthright answer.

Jeanni

Hi Jeanni, I'm glad to hear you are on the right track. The truth of the matter is - you will be a master at reading food labels and while time consuming at first, over time it will become second nature to you. Best of luck! Rachel

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
