The New & Improved Calorie Count Dashboard

Quote  |  Reply

As you may have noticed, we revamped our dashboard to make it even easier for you to track your calorie intake and expenditure. On the new dashboard you will see ‘Food’ = calories you eat, ‘Activity’ = the calories you burn through logged exercise, and ‘Remaining ‘= how many calories you have left in your calorie budget to eat for the day. The ‘Remaining’ calorie number is based on what your target intake is set to plus any logged activity which would allow for an increase in your allotted calories. Technically, you want to aim for zero remaining calories at the end of the day to ensure you are not over or under -eating.

Previously, we had incorporated an activity level which estimated the amount of calories you would burn every day on a baseline level. While it is accurate your body requires a certain number of calories at rest, it is a variable, often inaccurate calculation. Because we want to make things as simple and clear as possible for you, we have removed that number from our dashboard and analysis pages. However, if you were used to the old format, you can switch back by clicking the link on your dashboard.

As you may have noticed, we have incorporated the new design into the Old Dashboard experience. We now also offer a toggle version that allows you to see Net or Remaining calories depending on your preference/or to see both. The selection that you make there affects what your analysis graph displays for you. We've also exposed the water logger and added a date widget. We are listening to your feedback and are doing all we can to ensure you have tools that work for you.

Is there a place where we can add supplements? I take Iron, calcium, B-12,D, and a multi vitamin and it would be nice to have it reflected on the graphs somewhere to balance out the nutrition it shows we are not getting... Smile

Just a suggestion. Thanks!

I just add my supplements to my food log under other. I input the details like I would a new food that is not found in the data base.

This will work if you are using the main site, probably not on a mobile app (but I don't know)

  1. Go Logging
  2. Go Food Log
  3. Go Add Food - Other
  4. Go "Not in Database?" Go "add vitamins/supplements" -- you may have to click on the arrow for add more.  If it won't save without calories, just put 0
I agree!  That would be really good to have, if possible. Original Post by melissalove3:

I put all my daily supplements into a "Meal" and add it to the "Other" category every day.  It keeps it out of my real meals and makes adding the same supplements quick and easy each day.

The APP is great.  This website is less so.  I used this website last year, and am now looking to get back on track.  Love, love, love the app.  But the website does not have the same user friendly look, links or ease of use. A quick example - submitting a report, super easy on the app, can't even find the location on this website.

I understand this is a recent change, but is it really a change for the better?

Thanks for the help.  I found it and am using it now .

I love it!

I don't like it.

My job is in data analysis and although I can understand the graphs, they are not instantly clear at all.

I am always asked to present graphs as easily and as clearly as I can and I think you should take note of the comments here and do the same.

We certainly cannot see at a glance what most of us are looking for.

The rest of the dashboard is ok, although the water most definitely should be on the food log page.

Change is not always good/improved, I'm all for trying it but also for listening to the people you have to use it.

Keep the good bits and fix the bad.

Love the site overall though.  It certainly keeps me on track.

Please go back to the old format.  I want to see my actual calorie deficit/surplus.  This is new format is confusing.

I made the mistake of changing to the new format last night just to check out changes since I was there the last time.  I forgot to reset it back to the old format and now that option seems to be gone.  I do not like the new format and want the old one back.  What do I have to do?

Switch back to the old Design

That is my point.  The link to switch back is gone.  The only link left is "Feedback"

The new design makes it even harder for me to track my calori intake and expenditure, thank you.  It's especially annoying to no longer have a baseline of calories expended by simply living -- which was a motivation for me to get my butt moving.  This "calories left" BS will have me gaining weight when I really need to lose it.

You can click on the "See Net Cals." link to see your net calories.

Tried the new design. The more I used it, the less I liked it. Thank God I finally figured out to change it back! I does not make any sense to me for my limit to be 1700, my intake to be 1084 and I still have 1200+ more that I can eat. I'll never lose any weight at that rate! i have a problem with eatting too much. Not the other way around.

The new analysis graph doesn't make much sense to me. If I'm under my calorie goal, I get a green bar above the line, and it's a a positive number. Vice versa if I'm over my calorie goal. It would seem more intuitive to have a bar below the line and a negative number if I'm below my calorie goal, and a bar above the line with a positive number if I go over. Whether the bars are red or green should depend on whether I'm trying to lose or gain weight: going over the calorie goal in red for weight loss and green for weight gain.

they want to see the old, old version -- before the new dashboard.

My link is still there, regardless of what I do, so... I think if she reloads the page -- or clicks on the link I gave her, it'll work.

You're wonderful coach_K and absolutely right.  The link you posted worked tonight and I am very grateful!
