Anyone had breast implants / liposuction?
Seriously considering this as I have been eating clean and exercising well (mainly strength) for a while now.. but..
I have found that I get seriously skeletal up top (you can see my ribs ABOVE my boobs) and still I am carrying lots of fat around my bum and legs, also some on lower tummy.
I am and always will be a pear shape, but if I get moderate implants to boost my boobs and lipo on on lower body this will balance things out and I will finally stop fretting over my bad luck!
Has anyone done this and have any advice?
Should I carry on weight training or switch to cardio?
I don't want to gain loads of muscle and then get warped results when I lose it all from inactivity later...
Am also super worried about not being able to exercise after the surgery. Given that it is 2 ops aswell, I may even have to go in twice :(
I would say go in for a consultation with the surgeon and ask them. This is their business, they will have better tips. You probably don't even need the lipo to balance you out.
I would definitely continue with the weight training either way. You can get a strong lean body and a few weeks of inactivity won't kill it all. While you're healing, that's when you should bring in the cardio and lighter exercises.
I've never done cosmetic surgery and never would but know lots of people who do. first liposuction is a big waste of money- everyone I know who had it done just put the fat back on if they didn't keep up with the eating right and exercise. Also had a boss who was 5'7" and maybe 120 lbs and she thought she was "fat" and she had lipo done on her legs and butt and it just accentuated the cellulite - I mean her legs looked great before but after her surgery they were just gross flabby looking cottage cheese.
She had also had implants probably a D cup and after a few years they "pop" and she had to have them replaced- so make sure you can afford implants again in 7- 10 years. I have another coworker whose boob popped as well, she really didn't want to have to have implants again, but they do have to remove the old ones- she did have new implants but a smaller cup size this time around. Because her boobs were still under warranty she got a $600 credit toward the new surgery which still cost her a pretty penny.
I think if you can see your ribs above the breasts maybe you aren't eating enough. Personally I can barely fit into an A cup I am 52 years old and LOVE not having the saggy boob syndrome of middle age. I lift weights I lift heavy and I get compliments all the time on my body - because I don't augment, my experience since my divorce is that men are tired of all the fake boobs out there. Also I get a lot of compliments on the booty and legs and even though I am still a bit overweight again I work hard and love how much better shape and firmness of them now.
So I would say just lift weights - get a good full body lifting program and after a year reevaluate - diet and exercise are by far a much safer alternative than going under the knife and some boob jobs I've seen are really really obviously poorly done. Saw a facebook page of sisters who had their done and the one had a boob up almost to her neck while the other was where it should be - an obviously botched job!
wow great tips and horror stories!
To update though I have pert enough boobs, they are just pretty small! And yes the skeletal thing isn't just the ribs it is the whole upper body - people think I am super skinny because of my thin arms and chest but I cover up my big wobbly lower half with dresses and skirts...
Maybe I could do more pec exercises to build up muscles in the chest to make the ribs less noticeable... but then my boobs would definitely disappear completely!!
And trust me.. I eat LOADS!
My fiance is happy with me getting implants - I don't need attention from other men I just want to love what I see in the mirror!

I don't think there is a woman alive who "loves" what she has and due to the media and photoshop adding to the "we got to be ABC and XYZ to be sexy and appealing" has just made it worse.
Go to counseling before surgery. Could be just a case of body dymorphic disorder. You may not like what you see, but you may be seeing things that really aren't there.
My coworker with the cottage cheese thighs admitted she had this disorder and after having the surgery regretted it.
Ok look, I appreciate you are trying to help, but I don't appreciate being told I am crazy - counselling will not get rid of my pear shape.
And I know people dwell on the horror stories but I have seen plenty of happy customers. Just find a good surgeon!

I did not say you are crazy- I said seek counseling before going under the knife - use to be in the olden days that ALL plastic surgery clients had to undergo some sort of counseling before they could have their procedures. No days the doctors don't give a rats arse and just see $$$$ and say sure I'll fix that for you. Look at Michael Jackson- he obviously didn't need THAT much surgery and each subsequent surgery led to more and more. I just want you to understand that even fixing what you think is wrong may lead to you seeing something else that now will need fixing and like tatoos some people become addicted to the inking, some get addicted to the plastic! Just make sure what you see as a flaw is in deed a flaw.
Again, lift weights for a year and then revisit the surgery option.
I had lipo about 20 years ago - my boyfriend at the time and I both had it. For the next several years it was great, as long as I kept my weight down and kept exercising. I had a tiny waist and looked incredible!
But life isn't like that, things change and when I gained weight, some 10 years later, I gained it in places that I hadn't really gained before (back, arms) and weight that I gained back in my midsection, where I had the surgery came back lumpy, which was not attractive.
Like I said, as long as you keep it up, it's great. There's as much maintenance with lipo as there is with anything else.
A woman at my workplace had lipo and a tummy tuck after she had lost a bunch of lbs at weight watchers. She looked great for about 2 -3 months and then proceeded to gain back every pound and inch.
You should know that there is about 6 months of recovery. The initial 6 weeks requires that you be pretty sedentary and you have to wear compression garments. But then for the next few months you will have some swelling that will decrease with time.
Having said that I have also had laser eye surgery and that was the best thing I ever did for myself. I have enjoyed life tremendously since then because I can play sports without having to worrry about my glasses or contacts. It has made be a much more confident and adventurous person.
Breast implants - I have no experience with and I have good sized boobs, so I don't think I can be helpful on this or say anything positive about it.
I think it will just look odd - big pillows sitting on top of thin ribs will only emphasize your thin upper body.
Agree with others - do lifting (don't forget pushups and pullups) for a year, and also really work on your thighs & hips through squats and baboon crawls. Surgery rarely fixes things the way you think it's going to - nature tends to make things reappear!
Patience may help. For me, I show my weight first in my face, and then it's the last place to lose weight too. Since I started working out a lot, my face is finally thinner even though I haven't lost much more weight. your turn will come.
Suggesting that someone has BDD does not mean that they are crazy. I suspect most of us have it to some extent. I know I judge my own body a lot more harshly than I judge others.
I don't think you've mentioned what you do so far in terms of exercise, but I agree with the others that lifting might give you a better body than multiple surgeries would.

If the underwater photograph is of the OP, then I think I would think again about what DBacker has written and about what I have written. OP, you are quite slim. Others have emphasized that we all look at ourselves with a harsher eye than others do. I would go slow on this, because although you are convinced there have been many happy customers, once you have the surgery, if it turns out to be something other than what you were envisioning, it's hard to fix. In some cases, it can't be fixed.
What are you comparing yourself to? Are you entirely sure that the standards you are holding yourself to are reasonable?
I would pursue the suggestions that others have made for a year before jumping into surgery.
Girl rock that pear shape! I think pear shape is awesome! And boobs aren't everything! I think most of it is imagined--> even if you are a large pair, it will still look fine (*look at Charlotte/Kristen Davis on Sex in the City! She looks amazing!).
also get those ribs OUT! nothing looks more unhealth/sickening than ribs in the chest. My sister was anorexic when she had ribs in her chest. Your hips may be bigger, but if there's ribs in your chest your hips are still not BIG just bigGER than your top half.
Honestly, if you're so terribly uncomfortable do it. But it's kind of a waste unless you really want in it & people are going to gossip their heads off about you because, well, that's what people do and they might honestly think less of you. Don't let that stop you, but keep it in mind.
I Just went through a breast augmentation. I went with 500 cc's which gives me a 34DD (American Standard) and it brought me to the perfect hour glass figure. I've always had huge hips and even at a BMI of 18.5 my hips were 37 inches around even though I had a 22 inch waist.
The surgery was hard on me because you aren't allowed to work out for 4 to 6 weeks until the doctor gives you the ok I gained a bit of weight and lost a lot of muscle in 5 weeks without the gym however I'm almost where I was and it's been just over 3 weeks of working out again.
I am really happy with my body shape now and I find that it makes me look skinner on the bottom. I would suggest a breast augmentation to any girl that has small breast given that she wants it of course!
I would say that the liposuction won’t help if your hips are naturally big. Also lipo doesn't last forever have a look online and read up on this, I did and I wasn't satisfied with the reviews of the thousands of people that went through it. I wanted to do what little belly I had though now it's almost gone anyway.
If you get this done seeing that you work out a lot, I suggest you get it done over the muscle as it will look and feel way more natural. Also make sure you bring the doctor a picture of what you want. Also never go with the cheapest; you get what you pay for.
I agree with building up your upper body strength. I am a pear too and strong shoulders do a lot more to even out my build than trying to fight nature to shrink my hips.

Really who cares what others think? You should do things for yourself!!! Besides those that gossip are generally jealous. I've had nothing but positive feedback from those close to me. Even my parents who were very against my surgery thins that it's well suited and find that it makes me look more balanced.

If you're very slim up top there isn't much fat to cover the implant so they will look very obvious, as mine now do after losing 20lbs. Just something extra to consider
@Keira Did you get them done over or under the muscle and are they saline or silicone?

Oh definitely. Do it for yourself. But if she's someone who naturally cares what other people think of her (I assume she does-she is trying to fit society's standards of having to have perfectly matching breasts and hips) than she should know the backlash. People will, of course, be nice to her face as they were to her but she shouldn't neglect to think of the backtalk that will occur.
