Best strength training exercises for triceps

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everybody,

So I've been cc'ing and exercising for about three months now and I've recently started strength training on top of my cardio. I went over a good strength training routine with a personal trainer but I would like to add in some exercises that target the back of the arm where my 'bat wings' are located... Do you guys know good any exercises that will target that area?

Do you mean the triceps?   Dips...  uh, perhaps this link shows some good basic ones...

I even use my office chair to just push up from while I'm sitting then ad a(n attempted) plank for abs. heh heh

There are a ton of tricep videos on this Youtube site:

Don't forget the value of the good old push up here. Closer grips hit the triceps more and are great for a whole body workout as well.

thanks everyone! I'll try a few at the gym today!

Rope pulls are awesome-- attach the rope to one of the side cable thingies next to the pull down station (need  to work on my terminology...) and pull down without moving your elbows, using your triceps to bring the rope down. It should be a slow, concentrated effort by your triceps.

Also, over-head extensions are good, too. Again, make sure you keep your elbows stationary when doing this, so you don't use momentum and lose the effect on the tricep itself.

That's a good spot exercise, but for the most part we try to recommend compound movements. I think most of us would rather kill two birds with one stone.

French Curls are "best" overall workout for the tri's.  It will build overall mass of the tricep and also add definition.

Think of it like adding the benefits of a mass-building close grip bench press with the tri-head seperation effects of cable pull downs.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
