Body Building?

Quote  |  Reply
How do you begin to get into this? I would really love some helpful advice from any experienced body builders. What to eat and what exercises should I start with?

Eat (mostly) real food, and do either "stripped" 5x5 or Starting Strength from the  list of weight training programs until you reach at least intermediate strength levels on the strength standards charts - all the best body builders started with foundational strength training.

Two truths that will save you an awful lot of time and effort: supplement companies lie like a rug to get your money, and the routines you see in body building magazines and web sites only work as a break from the more serious strength training they're doing.

Don't try to find short cuts, they only lead into a trackless wilderness full of hucksters out to sell you rice powder with a pixie dust mix of herbs that either don't work or work so well they'll melt your liver.

Protein isn't bloody magic, it's food, and at most you need 1.8g/kg body weight per day when you're a natural - and protein powders are a convenience food useful under some circumstances, not something everyone needs.
