I'm not in a financial position where I can afford a BA right now (student! woo!) but it is something I'm interested in for the future, and I did worry about the exercise side of things. I usually run 5x a week, plus weights training etc, so its a relief to hear people getting back to exercise within 2-6 weeks - someone told me it would be 2-6 months!

Hi! I am getting saline implants on Tuesday of next week - just wondering if you had received any insight on how long I have to wait before I can start training again...i love weight lifting and running....is lower body ok? I am 5 2 1/2 and going for full C - do you think thats ok? or should I go bigger because I don't want them to ripple....D

Good morning Deesoraya718! Depends on how much loose skin you have to fill out the skin and depending on your chest measurements, most people who want to be a full C stay about the 220-280CC range, especially for how tiny you are. My sister got 230 MP and she is 5'4 110 and is now a full D. Follow what your doctor says about working out as everyone says differently, from my experience, the longer you take it easy the better and LISTEN to your body. I started working out hard again and regularly lifting at 4 months post op as it didn't feel okay sooner than that even though I had the go-ahead. I did begin to get a contracture. I'm currently undergoing ultrasound weekly and massage, manipulation but am continuing to workout as my body allows. Good luck and enjoy! Hope that answered your questions.

Thank you so much for your response! I will def listen to my body...being out of the gym is going to really kill me :/ - i will be eating leafy greens and protein....but I plan to start brisk walking asap...I don't want to look like i am falling over - so to speak - i will def listen to my surgeon...i am going with a 230 i believe...and 250 on other side as one is a little fuller than the other...i will keep you posted and thanks again for your insight! ;D

@mandyterrygirl - did your doc advice you to do massage since post op or did you just start after you feel the contracture? Has the massage helped? It's been 4 months since my post op and I have been careful doing anything that involve chest muscle contraction. I have been going all out intense in my cardio kickboxing class though. Typically after each workout them puppies do feel tight and harder. By the way, my doc also mentioned that taking Vit E could help with the settling of the implants.

He isn't big on doing massage unless you show signs of contracture, he said statistics aren't showing a significant difference between those that do/don't post op, but he does believe it helps after signs of contracture. My doc showed me how to move the implant around to keep the implant loose, he also showed me how to properly massage. It has been working very well and is sitting MUCH lower and softer now. I only was having the issue on my left breast, my right looks awesome, so I just do the manipulations a couple times a day until it lowers back down, plus I go into the office every week to have the ultrasound done, that REALLy works good for me and seems to last several days before it starts tightening againl. My doc swears by vit E and fish oil after surgery. (which I do take). I too feel much tighter after a workout, I did an hour of pullups and pushups today and can totally tell I'm going to have to massage it a ton tonight. Good luck!

That sounds great! I let my surgeon pick my size-told him anywhere between 330 and 375 cc's to work with and I'm very happy with his final choice! I can relate with the being out of the gym, I gained weight and totally lost control of my eating habits. boo! BUT- been back at it for a month and am 5 pounds away from being back where I was, I'm happy with that! Can't wait to hear how you are doing and how recovery is going!

Original Post by pumi37:

Am I the only one who feels fine in a A cup? I cant believe how common this has become. Losing weight and getting healthy just isn't enough any more. To each his own, but I hope if you have daughters you can explain why they are beautiful as they are but you have to have implants and such to be acceptable.

 Dear pumi37,

it's been a while since you posted this but I accidentally bumped into your post and I please ask you to not worry for having got the bad replies to your very intelligent, and above all REASONABLE comment. You did a good deed, and in fact you were completely RIGHT! This thread is not visited by just those who have already decided to have implants it is also visited by those who are considering it and still hesitating. Your wonderful comment made me understand how unnecessary this whole breast implant hype is, considered all the risks, but above all, the inability to connect on a genuine level with those you love-- your daughters especially -- because of the hypocrisy you very well depicted. I really wish I had a person like you for a mother, because with that no one would ever consider doing breast implants. So don't worry for jumping into the forum, as you may save more people from doing what they will regret for. Thank you!

Hi I am 5'5 128 LBs.  I just got silicone implants placed under the pec muscle 3 days ago.  Thank you everyone for the advice on when to go back to the gym, but..IM FREAKING OUT.  I have a dance performance in September and I have to get down to 118 and without cardio, I don't see how I can possibly achieve this task.

Does anyone have work out ideas that will help burn calories without jeopardizing a good recovery?  PLZ PLZ PLZ!!! i'm freaking out! I asked the doctor who told me 3 weeks, but i don't know if after 3 weeks my boobs can handle the type of physical activity my body is used to. Because I always do at least 8 miles on the treadmill every day and 1 hr or weights 3x's a week.  Can this type of activity be possible after 3 weeks TT TT???

Congratulations Ladylailapdx19 on your new BA.  I got mine done a day before you did.  My doctor advised me to completely take it easy and rest for the first 2 weeks.  But not to start any exercising (lifting only up to 5lbs) until after 2 months.  Each doctor and their rules are different.  You should really express to your doctor about how badly you want to perform and Please FOLLOW his/heradvice.  I really feel for you wanting to perform, but you don't want to run the risk of Capsular Contracture, because then your boobs will look horrible, you will have wasted a ton money getting them done, then you will have to go through more pain trying to get them reconstructed and not to mention more money.

And for those of you out there wondering, I hope this helps.  I am 5'6, 118 lbs. I got the HP 450cc Silicone (submuscular) with a crescent lift. I was a 32B/34A and since I'm only 8 days post op, I'm not sure of my final bra size, I'm only aware that I will be a D cup, but not sure of the number.  I will be back with an update in about 3 months.  I can tell you that, I am very happy with the results and they are no where near healed yet, so I can see that I will be completely happy with the end result.

Helo ladies,

Hope someone can  answer my questions. I just have two short ones. I am a healthy, 55 yr. old who is in good shape and good health. I exercise on a regular basis and in just the last couple of years have thought hard about getting a BA. I have learned quite a bit of helpful information from this forum and have thought about this for a while. So, are there any women my age who now have, or considering getting a BA?

Most of you are resent, happy recipients of BA. However, I have heard that in some cases you may have to "re-do" the procedure after 10 years, your thoughts on this?

A

Hi

I would like to respond to your post about being 5'6", having submuscular implants and a breast lift.

I too, am 5'6" tall. I weighed 125 lbs. pre-surgery and after the holidays I am now at 127lbs. My goal is to get down to my true weight of 118-120 lbs. I am 8 weeks post op today and plan on hitting the gym for the first time post op today:)  Pre-surgery my breasts were assymetrical -- left much bigger than the right and they were two empty sacks after breastfeeding 3 children -- 1 yr+ of nursing each child. Now in my early 40s I am so happy I finally made the decision to have implant surgery after many years of looking at myself in the mirror and always having a little voice in my mind telling me that I was unhappy with how my body looked compared to how I felt. I have trained with a trainer for several years, hit the gym 4-5x/wk, eat well and feel strong and healthy. I decided that I didn't want to appear like a centerfold, so I discussed with my doctor that I didn't want my breasts sitting high up and that I wanted them to appear natural. He listened and I underwent a breast lift on my left breast with a 200cc submscular silicone implant and a submuscular silicone 275cc implant under the right breast. The left side has a scar that looks like an anchor. The right side, in comparison, has a small scar under the breast only about 2 in. long. I have been using scar tape for 6 weeks and am pleased with the results so far. I am planning on asking my dr. about options using a laser to soften the scars on the left side. Today, I am wearing a size 34c (formerly 34a/b with lots of padding or smoke and mirrors as I used to call it). I finally like what I see in the mirror and how I feel in clothes.

As far as exercising, I started walking on my treadmill at home four days Post-op. I increased this to walking with light (3lb) handweights and increased my speed and stamina little by little. I also started incorporating squats and sit ups into my routine.

Currently, I have not exercised in 2 wks (as it was winter break and kids were all home). I have lost some muscle tone, but hope that I can recover ground quickly.

I plan on returning to cardio classes and cycling, but am unsure just how hard to push it. I plan on listening to my body and taking it from there. I am wearing an athletic bra underneath a workout shirt that has a shelf bra built in (minus the padded cups). I do not plan on going heavier than 3 lb. weights at the gym -- why risk hurting myself?

I am curious to know how you are doing several months after a breast lift and implants? Are you able to lift weights? Do push ups? Plank?

Do you have any advice?

Thanks,

J

I got implants and an anchor lift 2 weeks ago today. I started back to work after the first week and walking has not been an issue. My doctor said that walking is good and healthy while healing and will help the implants to settle. However it is not a good idea to do heavy strenuous exercise until the healing process is complete. I usually exercised 3-4 days a week prior and with the swelling right after felt huge and bloated. I was unable to do anything with out pain for the first week but am doing medium pace walking now. It is still very sore to do anything upper body and straining is not good for the scars. If you are worried eat healthy and ask your doctor before you try any exercise. I got 420cc and I know the size factor makes a difference in heal time as well as the placement, which for me was under the muscle.

I had my BA done May2011....took the summer off from excessive excercise. Walked, went boating, camping...we are vary active but I didnt lift a finger for 6weeks. I wanted to heal properly and have no issues. 5 months after surgery I started p90x and have stuck with it. Buya good sports bra. It feels kind of weird when you workout your chest muscles. Youare very awareof the implant moving under the muscle.
