Ladies,

Have you noticed your breasts shrinking because of your workout?  Is there something to look for or a routine to follow in order to  preserve your present breast size and avoid your breasts from shrinking?  I love to lift and as much I want to get more into it, I am also cautious because I don't want the girls to go:(   What have been your experiences?   TIA

My C-cup turned into an A-cup. There's nothing you can do.

As you lose your body fat, you also lose the part of it that's in your breasts.

:(

I never had much in that department to begin with (even when I was nursing my babies they were a B cup on a good day), and when my body fat got down around 20% they were gone. Oh well, you can buy boobies, but you can't buy a good cardiovascular system.

lol I completely agree!  They will just shrink cause they are mostly fat.

I see this as a benifit not a problem.

Being 50 I find having good pec muscles has "perked" things up quite a bit.  Although I don't have much what I do have seem bigger to me since lifting heavy weights.

I was totally going to say the same thing. When I did nothing but steady state cardio and constantly ate in a huge deficit I did go down in cup size. I always wore a C cup and found that I couldn't fill them out anymore. After I switched my workouts to predominately weight lifting (as well as put some weight back on), they're "bigger" than I ever remember them being.  Even when I weighed more than I do now. It may totally have something to do with building the muscle up underneath the fatty, breast tissue.

All I have to say is that ive lost 20 lbs and i went up a cup and a half. I was probably a small c very full b now im a very full d. How does that one work.

I do agree doing chest work outs have perked things up alot. I love the cleavage that I get a day or 2 after a great work out.

I am praying............. praying that my running/dieting helps me lost 2-3 cup sizes.  Oh do I dream of the day I am a C cup......... (sigh)

What exercises are you doing that are causing them to shrink?  Cause I need to start doing those (*()(*)

I am glad I am not alone. I went from a small B to a AA. :( I wear sportsbras mostly, now. At least it's comfy.

I've tried adding exericises that work the pecs, and I feel like my chest gets more defined, but I think my boobs are just too small for much of a difference to be made. Also, being just shy of 23, they're still rather perky anyway, so idk how much difference there is to be had.

You know, if you start to feel rather un-feminine with your decreasing boobage (I know I do sometimes), for an instant ego boost I'd suggest getting a sassy backless top and let the girls go free for the night. Esp if you're lifting a lot, I bet your back looks awesome, and just see how confident you feel and how much attention you attract. :)

Amen, sister! I'd love to lose 2 sizes myself.

Has your back size decreased? If so then that would explain it! smaller back size often equals bigger cup size despite the actual size not changing much!

I agree with those who want to shrink theirs. Oh how I would love that!

i'm SO losing mine.  i was just bemoaning that last night-  not that i really care about the quantity of my boobage, i care more about the fact that they seem to be deflating, not shrinking.  so they're like, empty ballons instead of smaller balloons.  :( sigh, guess i can't have everything!

This is SO me. I've started a savings account for a lift...not bigger...just lifted. :o)

I lost 20 lbs last year (137 to 117) and kept the same breast size (36B).  I did a lot of push ups and some other chest/shoulder exercises, but noticed no difference in "perkiness".

I wish I had lost in that area, because now I can't find a buttoned shirt that isn't tight at the chest and fits well at the sides.

Good luck.

sarah_ch - I'm in your camp. Nothing changes the girls, nothing. Not pregnancy, not nursing, not weight loss. But the disparity in waist - chest ratio after weight loss is making it hard to buy clothes that fit. I did find a good alteration service though :)

fanatical: as you can see - everyone is different. all types of boobies out there. luckily also all types of men. Some like a handful, some more!

For the ladies feeling like they're deflating:

I lost 90 lbs. and went from a 40DDD to a 36C and also experienced "deflation." My advice is to give it time! If you're relatively young, your skin still has a lot of elacticity and will bounce back. Mine did after about a year :)

Good luck!

Katie

Mine have totally shrunk. I've gone from a 34 H to a 30F, there's like nothing left. And I am so happy, now I don't need to do that reduction.

I'm in the club that wishes mine would get smaller. I've lost 35 lbs and they haven't changed a bit. Except they look a little bigger because my waist got smaller ....sigh

Great responses.  Good to know I am not alone.  I am trying so hard to tone up the muscles under my breasts. Mostly, I do chest presses, chest fly, incline bench and pec flys.  For cardio, I typically run 4-5 miles on my non-lifting days.  I have heard that nothing slims you down as much as running.  I definitely want to lose some minor fat covering my rock hard abs I know are present:)  Since I have gotten into the routine of being very consistant with working out, I have noticed the slight change.  I will give things more time to see how they develop.  Muscle after all is better then fat.

@canuckabroad - Mainly chest presses/flys and more pushups.

@pinzywinzy - Ha, isn't that the truth!

EDIT:  Just saw this article a little dated discussing this.  In the comments it mentioned doing more decline excercises to keep the chest looking bigger?

Finding this post could not have come at a better time -- I have only lost 5 pounds since I began actively working out again (only 5 more to go) and I feel like it is mostly my boobs deflating :(.  The only perk is now I can pull off the flat chested look, bc my chest muscles are a bit more defined...

The best fix I have found is a super nice push-up bra, hit up victorias secret ;)
