How much cardio?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm 5'4 and 148 pounds.  I eat about 1,700 calories a day, and I love food too much to go under 1500 calories.  How much cardio should I do?
I'm averaging 20 minutes, 4 days a week.  Is this enough for a gradual weight loss, or should I kick it up a bit?

If you keep your deficit between 300 - 500 cal a day you will lose weight- I never do cardio I lift weights I lose weight and inches -

What is your BMR and how many calories you burning through exercise - add these and subtract 500 and eat up.

My friend is a model and suggested to me an hour of cardio every day 4-5 days a week, along with weight training and eating well with low carbs and grains. I've been doing an hour on the elliptical 4-5 times a week and I feel great and am starting to see a difference all over.

Good luck!

Since I partially tore my MCL I do a combination of a stationary bike and a fast walk at a steep incline on a treadmill for 40 minutes 4 days a week.  I also spend another hour or so working out with weights 3-4 days a week.  When I started I'd only do 5-10 minutes of cardio, body parts were getting tone but belly fat wasn't really disappearing at the rate I wanted it to.  Since I've upped the cardio to 40 minutes 4 days a week, I'm really seeing results.

I know people **** about treadmills but the thing I love about them is that you set them and then have to keep up or fall off.  You have to have the will power to follow the programmed workouts or be able to set a fast pace/steep incline.

Not about the time, it's about the calories. You should probably be eating a tad more. And do more exercise to burn more calories.
