Cellulite. Has anyone had success with it?

Quote  |  Reply

I have pretty severe cellulite. I am very active and very strong, but I have pretty intense ripples. (I have gained 30 pounds within the last year and a half.) I am currently taking an herbal supplement, using an herbal cream, and dry brushing to reduce the appearance of it, as well as exercising. Has anyone had any success with exercises/creams/detox foods? I know that everybody is different but I want help and ideas. I am not resolved to having this degree of cellulite for the rest of my life- a little is fine- but holy cow my backside does not look like it belongs to a 20 year old.

I too would love to know the answer to this question. I am 40 years old and have had cellulite from the time I got pregnant with my first child when I was 25 years old. The only place I have it is on my thighs and I don't like to wear shorts because of it. I just started about two months ago exercising and I do so about five times a week. I have noticed that it doesn't look as bad, but it doesn't seem to be going away permanently. I've always heard that you can't really get rid of it. I'm not sure how true this is.

I would love to hear someone else's success or lack of with this.

If you lose weight, that will reduce your cellulite. I had gained about 20 pounds about a year ago and I had cellulite on the upper part of my legs. I lost weight without even thinking about it and that reduced it a lot. I think cellulite is just fat, so if you lose fat you will loose cellulite too. I also used firming lotion, but I'm not sure how much that helped.

There has to be something that can be done about cellulite. I do agree that when you lose weight that it gets better, but does anyone know of some really good leg exercises or DVD's or something? Help! lol

maybe im just cynical but i have not found anything that works significantly. yes losing weight helps it be less pronounce but you can still see ripples all on my legs. im currently trying to add some muscle to make them less jiggly. i think my problem is more to do with the fibrous tissues that are a little too over stretched still. im hoping they'll start to retract once my body is used to this weight. unfortunately cellulite isn't just fat, & for some it could be the just that fat & losing weight will work for them, others not so lucky. anyway i've investigated a lot into it because i started to have it even when i was very skinny at the age of 16. the best thing that explains it, is an actual biopsy where scientist can look & examine exactly whats there. its like saying you know how a car runs without every looking under the hood.

anyway here's a link...cellulite biopsy

I find that completely logical and highly truth based...but completely depressing. I'm at the point where I'm thinking of saving my money (once I lose more weight) in order to get one of those extremely over priced cosmetic procedures- non surgical deep tissue massage that significantly evens out cellulite.

I feel very unattractive because of it, it really bothers me.

i tried velasmooth for weeks. think i got 20 treatments & while it did shrink my legs like 1 inch every 2 weeks, it didnt really help my cellulite. supposedly the non deep liposuction (not the regular that actually makes cellulite worse), its called lipotrim over here & other various names. but anyway that is supposed to be good as it gets rid of the sub-fat & helps to tighten your skin at the same time. unfortunately i cant afford it. but yes it is depressing, but that's just my story, i think since i've had it for so long it'll take ALOT if any to ever get rid of it. i've heard others getting rid of theirs before.

Cellulite is twisted fat cells. When the connective tissue above the fat isn't very strong, the fat comes through and makes the ripples. That's what I've read anway. I'm 24, 5'2" and 110-112 lbs. I've had cellulite since puberty. I've always been very thin and even now with about 16% body fat I still have it. I'm pretty sure the only way to really get rid of it is the special liposuction someone else mentioned. Building muscle and toning does help. Also, as you loose weight your fat cells will shrink. We've all just got to try our best and then be happy with what we achieve. There is so much more to beauty than smooth thighs. Good luck!

I used to have terrible cellulite, once i started dieting, staying hydrated and exercising, most of it went away.

I know whats left of my cellulite is going to probably be there until i get rid of the rest of this pesky weight i am carrying , and i will need to do a lot of toning, but so far, that works for me...

None of the creams etc i tried before ever did much for me...

Each person is born with a finite number of fat cells.  The fat cells plump and deflate as we gain and lose weight.  They NEVER disapear without surgery (lipo).  We are all unique, however it is somewhat heridetary.  Look at the mature women in your family. most likely you have the body type of one of them.

I don't mind having a little cellulite- it's normal. The amount that I have is completely distracting from the rest of my body if I were to go out in a swimsuit. I don't think a lot of people would notice my face.lol

I will keep up with my exercising and healthful eating. I know that will improve it. Have any of you found any particular exercises that are especially helpful for muscle tone in the butt and thighs?

I am pretty much willing to try anything except surgical procedures. The risks that are associated with surgery highly outweigh the pleasure of weighing a bikini- that's my opinion anyway.

Butt and thighs? Deadlift variations, bulgarian split squats, single-leg squats.

I don't know how helpful Cellulite: The Definitive Battle, Part I and  Part II might be to you - it's something Figure competitors worry about a lot, but it's variable how much use you can get from their techniques.

I have a lot of fun with aromatherapy stuff, and sweet orange essential oil is supposed to help with cellulite. I put about 20 drops of that oil in a bottle of lotion and put it on my legs and it actually is taking care of it, along with, of course, diet, excersize and hydration. Plus sweet orange smells really good. :)

Thank you for the advice. I know that cellulite is an issue for most all women, but I really think there is a way to diminish it significantly without invasive procedures.

I'll definitely try the leg exercises and the orange oil. Thanks!

running made most of mine go away and I had it pretty bad.  My butt is lifted and legs are toned now.  I run 3 miles 6x a week
