Condense C25K?

Would it be okay to condense C25K by not doing it weekly and instead just running every other day (taking the extra recovery day/week out)?

I thought C25k was every other day....

Thats how I did it. That's how my Ipod App said to do it

It's supposed to be 3 non-consecutive days a week I think, which is not exactly every-other-day, but almost the same thing. I don't think it matters as long as you have one rest day between each run.

You really need to listen to your body. As a beginning runner, you will be challenging your body in a variety of new ways, and you might sometimes find that you need more than just one day to recover - and that's ok! A couple signs that you might benefit from an extra day or two of recovery are muscle soreness that lasts more than a day, decreased stamina, and fatigue.

I've been doing C25K since the end of April, but I'm still on week 4. I hit some set backs along the way (illness, excessive rain (I'm a trail runner), very bad cramps) and I've had to do some weeks over. In fact, this last week I couldn't follow the program because I made myself sick by eating something I was allergic to, so, I just got out on the trails and ran as much as my body would let me and didn't force myself to do the program. I learned the hard way that I really need to listen to my body. There is a difference between pushing past a mental block, and forcing yourself to keep running when your vision is going dim. On one particularly hot and humid day, I forced myself to keep running even though I was getting light headed and I tripped on a root because I didn't pick my foot up high enough and I took a pretty hard fall.

As far as running every other day, I find I do better on my Monday runs if I have both Saturday and Sunday off. Plus, I find it is easier to have a set schedule to run if you run the same days every week.

However, as theholla said, you really need to listen to your body. Slow progress is still progress. Progressing too fast is how you injure yourself.

As long as you feel ok, then do it. When I did C25K the first time, I did it 5 times a week, Mon-Fri and took Sat/ Sun off.
