Dry mouth during workout

Does anyone else experience this?  Embarassed

Sometimes when I have a hard workout session my mouth goes really dry and almost feels like i've been eating glue...

This happens even if i hydrate before training and have a water break in the middle. 

Anyone?...

Is it possible that you're focusing so hard on your workout and you're breathing mostly through your mouth or your mouth is open during the workout?

While you could focus on breathing in through your nose...

I chew gum while I work out.  It keeps me from getting what I have dubbed as "teeth slime".  Lol. 

Yup, sounds as if you are breathing through your mouth too much and possibly not drinking enough water.

Breathing is often taken for granted but is crucial to working out. Knowing how and when to inhale and exhale would benefit you greatly.

yes drink PLENTY Water DURING Workout to keep hydrated...also use proper breathing techniques

I have to chew a piece of gum at all times while I work out or else I choke due to the dry mouth.  I drink tons of water during the day and while working out but it doesn't matter what I'm doing I've got to chew gum

Oh ... now i think about it I do tend to breath through my mouth whentraining!! 

I find it really hard to breathe through my nose when exercising though, it always feels like  i can't get enough oxygen and then i panic.

 

Doesn't chewing gum make you choke?

I find I usually "chew" the gum during my warm up and then just sort of place it in the cheeck ( like chewing tobacco) so just the having something in my mouth generates saliva to keep me from the dry mouth synrome.  You can also try Biotene mouthwashes / toothpastes before working out there are some specifically to prevent dry mouth.

Dry mouth can also be a sign of oral diseases so maybe a visit to a dentist just to be sure.

had this problem, but now that i drink 2 gallons of water per day...doen' happen...I NEVER drink during my workouts...I drink water throughout the day...the thing that helps me drink is one of those Large water bottles that they sell at rite-aid....I keep iot on my desk, and I just drink every 5 minutes...before you know it...I drink 288 OZ of water or more....

Yeah, I drink a ton of water throughout the day - I always have a water bottle with me, and I'm constantly refilling it.

But I don't drink a whole lot during my workout, I just rehydrate after!  The chewing gum definitely helps, but I don't suggest it if you're one of those people that have trouble keeping yourself from choking on it ;)

 lol..well if i get punched in the face while i'm chewing gum....eehhh...I might die....lol
