Help! Need excercise for post-op knee surgery

Quote  |  Reply

I had orthapedic knee surgery at the beginning of february and have recovered enough to be able to cycle with light resistance for 30 mins 3xweek.

I also do a range of strength exercises - 3x10:  squats, lunges, single calf raises, single leg raises and those bridge exercises where you lift your hips off the floor and hold, then raise one foot at a time, 6 times per rep; bicep curls, pilates roll-downs (like a sit up but backwards, where you start sitting up and then slowly roll backwards till you are almost lying down).

What I'm wondering is - can anyone suggest any other exercise I can do as I am no longer progressing (my body has got used to doing these now).  I cant run, walk or use a stepper or cross trainer as the impact could mess up my cartilage graft.  I also cant kneel.

Tricky huh? any input would be greatly appreciated.

Your doctor and/or physical therapist can.

I agree, that should be part of the rehab process.

Yes, physical therapist.  I also had a cartilage/muscle graft and knee reconstruction, but part of my physical therapy involved the elliptical and even some treadmill work, so if you know you can't do those the only thing you can do is to seek medical advice and get the "all clear" to begin pushing yourself in that direction.
