HIIT Timers??

Quote  |  Reply

Ok. First off, I have a Blackberry Bold so don't go telling me what your iPhone can do. I don't have a choice, its a work phone :(   Endomondo Pro with intervals is not available on my phone *sniff sniff*

So - I need advice on a good interval timer. I am not good at all at watching the clock because I just get distracted (ooh a butterfly) and then I forget what time I started at and then I get stressed because I am so useless I can't remember when 30 seconds is up lol.

I would like a timer that I can store 4 interval times in: 30, 60, 30, 120

What does everyone use and love?

gymboss, but I have not used it to store different intervals.  I use it to store one at a time and then change it if my routine changes.  My brain is low-tech.

I was thinking I could just count the number of beeps til I start/stop if I set it to 30s, which is fine til I get to the 45/15 part of the program :S

Go to the gymboss website and see whether they tell you if you can program it that way.  I usually do 30/30 for 10 or 20 cycles.  I don't have my instructions with me (they are in my car) so I can't tell you off hand what it's capabilities are.  But it's small, the price is right and it comes in lots of colors!

The one thing that I noticed and maybe it's just me - is that when I tried to count things, I just could not remember how many I did.  I really need to be able to rely on the time to count for me, which it does.

Get a counting clicker! I can count reps just not time. Its an issue.

I was also thinking of getting a watch that can do that, but there aren't many for women and I am too small to wear a men's watch (physically, not just fashionally)

I use my, cheap, Timex Ironman, watch. I don't know the maximum number of intervals that it stores, but I have it set for 10 of them for when I do Burpees, because I do 8 sets: 30 seconds, 55 seconds, 30 seconds, 55 seconds etc. Those numbers happen to repeat in my case, but they are set individually and can all be different numbers. That is in "interval timer" mode.

There is a separate countdown timer that just counts down to a finish and stops, or keeps repeating the same amount of time.

The Chrono mode stores 100 laps. Saves split times, and lap times, etc.

The only thing that I don't like about it is that it isn't very loud. The Gym Boss is loud, and I was thinking of getting one. But now, I wonder if the Gym Boss will serve my needs.

Anybody: can you set a bunch of different times in a row when using the Gym Boss? Can you do two (long and short, that get repeated over and over). I really only need two, as long as they repeat, and it displays how many time that they have repeated.

I understand that the Gymboss has two you can run on a repeater.

Maybe I can stitch a mens watch onto an armband lol!

My wife has a women's Ironman. If you want, I can check to see how it's functions compare tonight.

PS: I had an old women's ironman that I used to keep in my pocket. The band had been destroyed from caving, but it was still running, and the women's version was much smaller (better for a pocket).

The women's online says it only has two intervals it can store, thats for the 50 lap ironman sleek. the others don't mention it. I would appreciate it if you could check

I called DW, and quizzed her about her watch. The interval timer has just two times that you can enter, and then they repeat those same two forever. She jumps rope for 2.5 minutes, then lifts dumbells for 2 minutes, then jumps rope for 2.5 minutes etc., as many times as you want (likely 100 is the maximum).

It also has a lap timer (regular chronograph), and a countdown timer that stops or keeps repeating. Oh yeah, it tells you the time, and the date too, lol.

It sounds like, if you need more than two different times, you might want the mens version.
