Kettlebell training...anyone out there?
Does anyone out there know aprox how many calories one burns doing an hour of kettlebell training? I started training with kb 3 weeks ago and feel the effects, but can't find anywhere how much I'm likly burning.
I asked my trainer how much she thought I burned during a one hour class and she estimated about 500. I mean, you do kettlebells, you know how tough it can be. But so rewarding. I can not think of one aspect of my life that hasn't been improved with kettlebells! It's awesome.
Wow, 500, i'll take it. It does seem like a LOT more at the time...after a kb class I feel like I'v just run a marathon. I'm completly beat up, but high as a kite at the same time. How long have you been doing kb?
I just started kettlebell last week and burned 500 calories learning it. So I am hopeful once I get the hang of it the number will go higher.
Kettlebells rock!
I asked my (super incredibly awesome) trainer at my last training session. She estimated much more than 500. Of course many variables like the weight you're using (I'm still on the 20lb weights). And of course what types of circuts you're doing. My trainer pushes me to the point of a near death experience lol so yes, she guessed far more than 500 but said the reason it's not found anywhere is because there are too many individual factors. She did say that if I really wanted to know (and I do) she'd have it all figured out for my next session on Tuesday. Of course it's all still a guess.
ninav, you're going to love it, it makes a HUGE difference in your whole entire body! I only started on March 13, going twice a week and I am hooked. My teenage daughter says I even walk different, my core is stronger than ever.
Have fun kbing!
I use a 20# weight and use my heart rate monitor, I have only been burning about 360 or so. not sure If I am doing something wrong, I dont think I have gotten to 500 with any of the dvds that I have, and most are 45 min long.
Not sure if you have had better luck, but I average 13 calories a min. when I do a KB workout. So, 30 min workout I can expect burning 420 cal. woo hoo?

“The results showed that the average participant burned about 20 calories per minute during the kettlebell workout, which equates to 400 calories during a typical 20-minute kettlebell workout.”
Yes, but I think they were doing a Tabata which is really really hard. I was just going off of my routine that isn't as intense. Thanks for the link though. I hope to get to where I'm burning 20 cal a min. If you haven't worked out with them find a gym that has them. They're fun as heck.
