The last five pounds!?!
Do you have the last bit of weight to lose? What doctors call the "Vanity" weight? What is working for you? I am really excited to have lost 15 pounds and have 5 more to lose but it seems to be more difficult than climbing Mt Whitney!
I eat well, run 3 miles five times per week and light exercise the other two days.
Advice?
Have you been running 3 miles since you began? Try running further, or in more difficult conditions(trail?).
As you get closer to your target weight, if your activity and eating is the same as it was when you started your deficits won't be as much. Smaller deficit=less loss.
I've lost just shy of 40lbs, down to my last 15 to get me well into my target weight. I'm still losing because when I do work out I work out alot harder than I did when I started this a little while ago.
Running 3 miles is like what, 4-500 calories? I admit I can't run that far... Its too much effort for too little return for me.. I prefer the stepper and that kind of thing because I don't have to pay attention as much to what I'm doing.. if I start pushing myself and my mind wanders on the stepper I just slow down is the worst that happens.. running you can twist an ankle.
Maybe try adding something else into your routine thats high impact?
I would suggest weightlifting, as your body gains muscle it burns fat, and the more muscle you have the more calories your body burns daily. Also if you lift weights your body continues to burn more calories through the day after you lift, as opposed to cardio which really only burns hwile you are doing the acivity.
You don't have to become a body builder or anything, just small amount are fine, but if you haven't lifited yet, which it sound like you don't really focus on it, it could be exactly what you need to jumpstart your bodies weightloss again.
You say your goal is to lose 5 pounds, but I doubt that is the actual goal. What is your actual goal? If your goal is to improve your cardiovascular health, or to look better, then losing 5 pounds is not necessarily going to get you there. Tell us what your goal is, and then you will get better advice.
