leg gaps..is it worth trying to achieve?

Quote  |  Reply

my inner thighs have always slightly touched. i'm not over weight at all, it's just that that area has never been super tight and toned. i find it hard to target that area. is it just genetics? do i just not have wide enough hips to have that space in between my thighs? or can i really work that off with some exercises?

i'd love to hear of good inner thigh exercises

thanks

do this video as much as you can while maintaining good form. I thought I'd never get the thigh gap, but I follow this girl's video series religiously and lo and behold! thigh gap!

You cannot spot reduce - getting that gap is mostly genetics / build.  You can lose fat through a caloric deficit, which may or may not affect that area.  You can also gain muscle, which may improve the appearance of your body in general.  But you cannot spot reduce*.

*without liposuction

I have 2 daughters both very thin and they do not have the thigh gap.  I don't recall ever having it either growing up.  Sure my thighs don't rub as much as they used to but there is no gap.  I do however have shape to my thighs because I lift weights.  I lift heavy weights and I am losing fat.

I still have a ways to go but I will wear shorts now- I wear swimsuits now because I like the shape my legs are taking.  I never wore shorts for probably 15 years ( and I live in AZ)

If you want nice shapely legs lift weights and eat right

holy crap what a waste of time! Leg lifts? Seriously?

OP, heavy back and front squats. Don't bother with leg circle porno wanna be workouts.

I second the front squats comment. It, as well as cleans, are easy full-body work out exercises.

Read the topic and thought I was at bb.com srsly brah

brah i'm just tryna get a lil toned

judging by your picture, trying to be toned is your thang too

Haha that's not me... that's former world champion Mick Katsidis.

Worrying about whether your thighs touch doesn't sound like "toned" it sounds like a body issue but each to their own.

I'm currently focused on increasing the size of my Stapedius muscle.

Do you go high reps or low reps/high weight with an ear harness?

nope. i've been underweight and my thighs still touched. if you've got really narrow hips (like me) and any sort of muscle, having thighs that don't touch is probably unrealistic.

lmao, you are hilarious.

+1 to this post.

maybs i just have a skewed outlook..but aren't thighs that don't touch a sign that they're toned? in general? unless of course you're anorexic ...which is something that i'd rather not think about.

educate me if this opinion is raising any eyebrows

Train for performance and aesthetics will follow.

Lift heavy

eat well

?????

profit

I think lifting heavy is the best "reshaper" of any part of the body you aren't pleased with.  Of course you have to watch what you eat too, but I know since I've lifted heavier, I have definition in my thighs arms abs butt just about everywhere is improved.  I have a bit of a gap in the thighs, but this is again due to the muscles being firmed and shapely instead of just "there".

Everyone has a unique body, and it's a mistake to try to make your body fit some idealized mold. People are also horrible at evaluating themselves, so don't use the mirror as your measure. Measure things like your body fat and your sports performance. Track these things over time and work to improve them.

when I was significantly underweight my thighs still touched.

you can improve their appearance, but ultimately it's one of those genetic things that can't really be changed.

Check out ambereva's profile pic. Her thighs touch, and I think you'd have to agree they look pretty "toned."
