lossing 2 inches around the waist by hula hooping

Quote  |  Reply
I have a 4 lb. hula hoop, with wich you are supposed to trim 2 inches off your waist and loose 4 lbs in a month if done for 10 minutes daily.... Has anyone tested this out and really seen the results??? A personal trainner told me that sometimes you actually can increase the size of the muscle around your waist (love handles) since the fat around your waist and abs is so hard to burn. i have been hula hooping for a week now, and i am afraid that instead of my waist getting smaller, it will get bigger :-( Has anyone seen the results a weighed hula hoop promises?

I once went to a hula hooping expo, and all I can say is that the hula hoopers had the most amazing abs I've ever seen on anyone. We're not talking the 6-pack body builder weird bulky abs, but beautiful, graceful, well-defined curves.

I got to try out their hoop and I couldn't keep it up for longer than a minute or two. This was well over a year ago and i was very unfit, maybe now I could do better. But it is quite a workout!!!

Where did you get your hoop?
I can't keep a toy hula hoop up! How on earth do you do it with a 4 pounder?
I've lost around 5 inches off my stomach in the last month by simply counting my calories and exercising.

I can't see why the hulahoop wouldn't work to burn some calories and allow you to tone up some muscles.  Expecially a 4 pounder.

I agree with the beautiful abs that serious hoopers have.

I have a weighty custom made hoop that I, at one point, used for 30-45 minutes a day.

I had beautiful shape and tone... especially for a mother of three.

The only downside was some minor hip bruising when I started out.

Hoop away!  It builds a strong beautiful core.

I would have never of thought of hula hooping for toning the abs.  Its sounds like its worth a try.  I do have one question, how the heck to I keep it going?  I can't hula hoop to save my life, but would love to learn.  Does anyone have any tips?
I know a girl who has THE MOST AMAZING ABS EVER! And I asked her for advice and she said weighted hula hoops...now if I could just convince myself that I should buy one....arg
where can I even find a weighted hula hoop?  I think it would be fun

Many people think hooping is about rolling the hips.

Its not.

It a subtle front to back motion.

( kinda humpy)

When the pelvis is slightly tucked and the abdominals are engaged the movement can be so fluid it looks like you are barley moving.

I found this Hoop class link.

http://www.hoopnotica.com/classes

I have never tried this particular one... but it's a start.
Sagercih, don't ask me why, but it's actually much easier to hula with a weighted hoop!!
From what I have read the heavier hula hoops are actually easier in comparison to the lighter ones.  (You have to move more to keep up a lighter one).
holy cow I just saw the video preview on their website. Would love to have abs like that...have no clue how to keep the hoola hoop up.  I gave a try with the kid's hoop and I got it to turn only three times at best.
I don't know about the pink fluffy boots though.
I believe my hoop is a 3 pounder. A friend got it for me on-line. I love it. When I was a kid I could hula for ever. It took a while for it to come back at age 53. I do 5-10 minutes a day. I stopped it for a while and was only working out with a fork. Reason #1 that I'm here. Since joining CC lat March, I've gone back to the things that always work for me, and that I like. If you purchase one, I'd advise not going over 3lbs, as you will experience bruising on your waist and hips at first. It is a good thing to have a little fat padding getting started.
I have a 3lbs hoop, it does work.  I got my wedding dress last year to not need the small amount of letting out, just by doing it 2 times a day for 10 sometimes 15 minutes.  Of course, I was also trying to eat right and do other exercises.

Thanks for all the comments, I want to tell you all that it is much easier to hula hoop with a heavy hoop, and yes at first you do get some bruising around your hips/waist, and it hurst, but after a few times it gets easier and you can keep it up longer. I got my hula hoop at Curves but it came from www.sports-hoop.com and it runs about $35 - $40. I just got back from memorial weekend but i am doing it everyday, up to 15 minutes, I will do it the whole month of June and post results. Wish me LUCK! as i would love to loose the inches and have those beuatiful abs and curves that some of you have mentioned.
I am glad to find this site, as I just borrow a 3-lbs hula hoop from my neighbor. She was using it for a while and stopped citing busy with a todler.

It's easier to use than the regular one, because it stays on my hip. If I keep using it every day for two weeks, I will consider to buy one for myself.

Watching TV while I do the hula hoop is much easier though.
Ok, after a week of trying and failing to find a local place to buy a hoop from, I just bought one off the sports-hoop website. Go me!
I think I will go out and buy a regular hula hoop to start. This sounds stupid but I never could hula hoop even as a kid! I wonder if I can learn at 43? I am thinking of anything I can to make exercise fun and different. I bought a jump rope and started doing it occasionally.
Wow, Thanks for bumping this subject.  So where are those results at? :P

This makes me want to get a hoola hoop.. I couldn't do it as a kid either.. But I never really tried.  I had too much fun on my bike and rollerblades.  Its never too late to learn something new.
I'd like to hear about the results too! Was it worth it? (especially the bruising?)
Well ladies, i did it for a while but i was going to the gym as well, i can't say that i saw a 2 inch reduction but i did not complete the 30 days, i haven't used it in over a month, but perhaps it's time to dig it out and start again.... Thank for the post

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
